I thought Baker was alright tonight, adds toughness to the team and laid some great tackles.

On the other hand Blake and his frees against count is starting to worry me

Agreed. Only struggled in aerial skills. Which i think is to be expected. He is a hard nut to crack.

Clarke maybe out, didn't impress all that much tbh. Gwilt did alright but was it enough. And I havnt seen the Gardiner thing, was it at the start of the 2nd? thats the only part of the game i missed otherwise I am at a loss :P

Needs to practice holding opponents out with his forearms.
He gets pinged too many time for extremely soft and unnecessary hands in the back.

Max can replace Raph Clarke.
Both are prone to clangers but Raph is in good clanger form.

Milne can come in for Gwilt because Gwilt is just not getting enough of the ball and

If Gardiner gets suspended Big Mac should be his repacement.

Baker is a good tagger but in a fixed defensive position he is always vunerable to being out marked.
Baker can't mark or spoil the high ball.
His only chance is to outbody his opponent.

Love the guy but...
Bakes is not a HB Flanker per se
Most HFf 's his size are stronger in the air
If he gets a gig in the 22 it must be for a specific match up , tag-wise and for the moment CJ has a mortgage on the no1 tag at least

he will still be most handy but they just can't keep playing him HBF when there are stronger options
I know the argument is while he's there others are released to go forward in a more attacking vein , but it has to be juggled , week by week , and in the context of the game itself
Come finals time he will be a risk playing there for any length of time IMHO

Look, I can be as down on The Fro as the next man at times, but there is no way you would drop him on tonight's game.

Raph on the other hand had a shocker. Milne will replace him in the side.

McEvoy for a suspended Gardiner.

Max for Gilbert, who may struggle this week if his ankle blows up.

I think u've hit the nail on the head!

Baker should stay, and assuming Milne is fit, Gwilt should be the one to go... And i would be bringing Max in for Clarke too..

How would that effect the structure? Can we play Max, Sam, Zac and Blake in the same backline?

No way there will be 4 changes.

We won. the coach likes to keep things stable.

2 changes tops. Gardiner will get weeks and Milne will probably be back.

McEvoy in and maybe Schneider needs a rest, he did SFA tonight.

My team is how they should line up and be used in the modern game.
Not the historic positions of the 1960s and before.

Backs: Ray, Hudghton, Dawson
Half Backs: Blake, Gilbert, Baker
Half Back Loose Man: S. Fisher
Centre Square Midfielders: Ruck = Gardiner; Tagger = Jones, Clearance = Hayes, Dal Santo
Running Midfield: Wings = Goddard, Montagna; Corridor = Gram
Half Forwards: Riewoldt, Schneider
Forwards: Koschitzke, Milne

Interchange: Geary, McQualter, Ball, King

Emergencies: Ruck = McEvoy; Utilities = Miles, R. Clarke

In: Milne, Hudghton
Out: R. Clarke, Gwilt

I thought Gwilt and Baker played good games tonight. Clarke was disappointing. It's hard to tell on TV how much time he spent on the ground but he didn't get much of it.

Lol, we just won our 10th game in a row.

No chance of us making 3 unforced changes.

Honestly, do some of you people look at the stats, see whogot the least touches, then rule them out for next week?

Does it ever occur to you that youcan actually work on deficiencies during the week?

You know... training. We just went 10-0. Not the greatest performance, but you'd think that there'll be things they can work on.

Usually yes.
1. RL wants 2 primary ruckmen
2. RL wants Max in before the bye
3. RL recognises Milne's contribution
4. RL doesnt like changes to team list/structure.

If I know RL (which I don't) that order of thinking might just see 3 changes into the team for next week.

Sound about right?
RL has never made 4 changes unless they were forced or we got smashed.

imo it will be two (assuming gardiner goes, which is not a certainty).

Milne to come back (and mcevoy if gardiner goes). Not sure how would go out.... Raph is no certainty to be dropped as many think here...

No, Raph is not a certainty to be dropped, but he will be closely looked at. His first half was terrible. His decision making and ball handling was terrible.

I can only see 2 changes. Max and/or Milney in. Raph to be dropped but not sure who the other player to be dropped may be if they both come in. IF Gardiner does get a holiday, Milney to come in. However, that will depend on his knee. Not sure serious it is so if he is not fit, it will be Max.

I would be really surprised if Ross made more than 2 changes. Even that would be pushing it. You don't make wholesale team changes when you win a game of football. You just tweak the team.

I am not sure if some of you have actually seen how the sides ahve been picked this year but there will only be one change if Gardiner is not suspended and that will be Milney for someone. If MG is out then Ben comes back.

Oh come on plugger dont spoil the thread with reality - we NEED up to ten changes next week - at least.

We have to make changes because the tweenies are bored that we keep picking the same players (who incidently keep winning us games).

Come on Saints make heaps of changes for the instant gratification generation.
