I thought he broke even with Hale as the second ruck.

McEvoy had 4 disposals, 3 marks and 11 hitouts. Probably 40-50% gametime.

Hale had 4 disposals and 12 hitouts as well.

I thought he did ok, competed pretty well.

Both didnt do much IMO. Hale has previously dominated down forward but failed today. McEvoy needs to improve vastly over this year to maintain a spot in this team.

Midfield clearances and clear winners are needed to make an effective forward line.

You need to protect the ball handler to increase posession efficiency

IMO
At this stage of his development you'd be pretty confident in his ability to hold his own against #2 ruckmen or other developing ruckmen like he may face next week against Carlton (if King goes?)

You wouldn't want him up aginst a Dean Cox or Brogan/Lade etc.

He's certainly improving in every game he's playing.

Good to give him a run, and I suspect he'll stay in next week.

In: Gardiner
Out: King (susp.)

he is a kid and he is learning. He will not be in the team when King and Gardiner are fit (or not suspended). Whilst he learns, any games in the 1's will only benefit his education.

McEvoy needs to do a lot more around the ground. If he's not going to get a few handballs or marks (which King did at times, 7 or 8 disposals I think), then he needs to impose himself in the forward line more.

As long as he keeps improving, with King and Gardner we can afford to bring him on slowly

He's not dangerous, yet. But he's fine.

Good and solid. Second efforts were great. Should have taken a mark forward and goaled from it which would have given him a 6.5/10 insetad of a good learners 5.5/10...

He'll be a player IMO.

He is 19 years old and it was his 3rd AFL game

According to most pundits he is 6 years away from hitting his straps as are most 19 year old ruckmen

Great that he is getting gametime

he played a very average game, but showed signs which is all you can expect from a 19 year old ruckman.

still a couple of years away from being a regular 22 member imo. Overall, did okay.

I'm guessing that he had 50% or less game time and 11 hit outs and 3 marks is pretty good...

He is only going to get better

he sure shows some ticker ... might not be blessed with the greatest mark or kick at this stage but he is not afraide to get in there ... give him time rucks usually take ages to hit their straps ... think the same time in Cox's carreer he was getting out run by scott cummings in time trials

Overhead he is pretty ordinary.

Only young so it's good to see him even make the seniors for a team that is 11-0.

My pick is Stanley for the future though.

Based on watching them both playing for Sandy.

Stanley is quick and agile for a big man and is impressive at ground level.

I think Big Mac will be a useful tap ruckmen who could fill a few holes in defence but thats about it. I know the kid is young but you can't get what Stanley has naturally.

So is Brad Moran, but he can't get a game at Adelaide. Track times don't get you very far in the ruck.

McEvoy has a ton of football ability. Even if today wasn't a great showcase of his ability, he's only 19 and still learning.

Yeah nah pleasing positive

Ben is ok for where he is at....

Needs to learn to use his body better..
..and in one instance did not takea mark 20 m out that ruckman againsta smaller opponent should take.

He is playing well enough to bea useful replacement for King or Gardi..but you will still prefer both of then.

Give Ben another year or two and he will be good value.
