Bakes

Post: # 782231Post st.byron »

Thought Bakes was getting back to his best tonight. Hard, harrassing, tough. Loved his game, following on from his 32 possession game last week. He's well and truly an integral part of the back half.

I thought with a couple of his chases and lining up players he was going to kill two of them tonight.

Hit the contests hard and probably fortunately missed a couple.

Getting himself going again is Bakes. Is so important to us when he is up and running like he has been in the last couple of weeks.

Yes bakes is back!!!!!!

His last two games he has been very good.

When he first came back he looked slow. He was doing the tough stuff..but was getting run off.

Importantly he seems to have regained his quickness.

He is back in town now as the complete package.

Never write off a champion. He did win a club B & F after all.
His 1%'s are second to none.
I can't wait to see him in a G.F.

Your spot on there , he sure has turned it around the last two weeks , he will never get back to the Bakes of 3 years ago but he is doing a great job and is our only small defender so he is very important

I actually can't believe people doubted him. He's come off a serious injury last year and just needed game time.. and yes confidence in himself. Bakes was one of the missing ingredients last year - as already said Club Champion, enough said.

I love the way he works in close,
He bodies his opponent past the ball and out of the contest.
An exquisite skill of the perfect tagger.

Hopefully the man who he shared the B&F with can come back into the side and perform as well.

Maybe this year?

Does anyone hit harder than Baker. Pound for pound the scariest little f***er in the league.

Logged on here for the first time since Friday with the intention of starting a Bakes is Back in Business thread.

I am obviously too late but would like to add that this was Bakes best game for the season. In fact he was really back to his old self.

Just when you are wondering how this team could improve, up pops Bakes.

Love Bakes. Full of determination and usually manages to shut down whoever he plays on. I think he's one of the league's most underrated players.
Who else loved the way he played on for minutes without his boot on Saturday? No way was losing it going to keep him out of the contest. Just kept going til the siren (at 3/4 time I think it was).
He lost it just in front of us, and it was comical watching our water boy pick it up and try to figure out whose it was, then try to keep up with Bakes while he tried to find a break in the play to return it to him.

Bakes game on Saturday was typical of how he plays - continual harassment and he works hard to link up play. I don't think he's ever been that fast a runner and he's certainly not silky with his skills. First half of the year he's lacked confidence, fitness and just having game time. It's all coming together now at the right end of the season, so I'll think you'll see more vintage Baker over the next couple of months.

correction: Baker is actually not slow at all - one of those things a player never gets credit for because he's such a stand-out in another area. A bit like Justin Peckett was in his latest years - pace kept him in the side, despite not being known for pace.
