i was watching it the other day on foxtel (first time since 1997)
i was wondering why we were wearing the clash jumper when it was in melbourne, and adelaide does not clash with us that much??

Because that was our home jumper that year. We wore the tri-colour mainly as an away strip from 96/97 - 2001.

It was a "club" decision at the time, players, board and staff (but not supporters) who thought that this would signify a "New Saints" era. We could have worn whatever we liked, because, as you rightly allude to, there was no clash. This particular jumper style had been worn all year, so in that sense, it was a consistent decision. On the other hand, the traditional design would have meant more to more. Alas, we could have gone nude and the result would not have been different. Then again, it may have been worth a try.
