Up until 2004 Aaron had a good run with injuries, missing just 10 through injury or suspension in around 160 games.
In 2004, Aaron played 18 of the 22 H&A games, including round 22. A "knee" injury prevented him playing in the finals, including being a late withdrawal from the PF.
In 2005, he played 12 games, missing Rounds 7 to 17 with first an ankle injury then a calf injury. He played in the QF in which we beat Adelaide but re-injured his calf again and missed the PF (again).
In 2006, he injured his knee (pcl) in a front on clash of knees against Geelong in Round 7. He returned in Round 21 and played three games but was not right, his last game being the EF against Melbourne.
He never played again.

With Aaron in our current side I'd be that confident of a premiership it is not funny.
The missing piece to the puzzle that can hopefully be overcome.
One of the great football tragedies that his career was cut short.
Thanks for those stats Perfectionist, there's too many people out there that just remember those last 2 years & bag the bloke.
IMO Hamill was hugely significant in changing the mindset of this place around & helped instill the great leadership and work ethic skills in Rooey that he now shows.

The draw was round 18. Alas, Aaron did not play in that game or any other that year. This link desribes his retirement announcement:clarky449 wrote:Are you sure?thejiggingsaint wrote:Sammy played his final game against Footscray at the dome in 2007
(When roo kicked the point after the siren to give us the draw) We never made finals that year.

And yes, if he was in the team at the moment, we would be absolute certainties. Then again, had he been fit to play in either PF and then the GF we would have won both flags, in my view. He was the forward pressure in those days. It is just that these days others are emulating his work.
