He said he "was quite chuffed" that the club invited him to the match .

Good thing too. 3 years later, shwos maturity by both sides to put the past in the past and just focus on everyone getting behind the club.

Agreed.

Tried hard for the club both as a player and administrator, even though it all ended in tears.

Lance or James??

There comes a point in every man's life when he has to say, "Enough is enough." For me, that time is now. I have been dealing with claims that I cheated and had an unfair advantage in <redacted>. this 10 mins of the panels comments about the game does not include his bit of thanking the club.

But his comments at 10:20 about mick eddie and Bucks is likely to be prophetic.

Too true. He nailed that one. The deal was done when the Pies were on a roll. What happens when they go out in straight sets?

Let's hope that if we do snag the big one that both he and RB are welcomed and they can both look back with some satisfaction for being the catalysts for where we are today.

Doesn't seem that way...

http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/sport/ ... 42,00.html

ROD Butterss will be somewhere in Sumatra on that one day in September.

The former St Kilda president yesterday told the Herald Sun he would not be returning from a sailing adventure if his beloved club played in the Grand Final.

Butterss, at the helm when coach Ross Lyon was appointed, may not even get to see the game on TV.

The best he can hope for is finding a suitable sports bar - and Sumatra is hardly renowned for its array of cable channels.

"I wouldn't come back. It's just too far," Butterss said.

from the above article
New St Kilda chief executive Michael Nettlefold invited Butterss to attend a game mid-season, but he was busy with business.

Butterss has been a key figure in the club's rise, but explained his absence as mirroring his personality. "It's probably a reflection of me in a sense. I like to get on and do other things," Butterss said. "I get bored very easily."

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>.

He said he should not take too much credit for backing Lyon as the man to take the coaching reins at St Kilda. "He put himself in, really," Butterss said.

"In hindsight, Blind Freddy could have picked him.

"He's such a solid human being, good leader and good manager of people."

Article mentions that Butterss has already split with the mrs. Didn't they just get married at the start of the year?
