Lukey Ball

thought he was fantastic on saturday. His chase down on Mackie (?) in the 1st qtr really set the standard for the game.

(going from the paper)
46% game time.

couldnt have asked for more in my opinion.

Totally agree but why did he only have 46% game time when he was playing so well?

Had a great game, but we really need him to step up both fitness/form/skill etc so that he is playing around 70% game time.

46% game time from a gun-midfielder isn't good enough. It may have been a fitness/coach ploy to play him that way, but boy god, if he was playing 70% game time he'd average 25 possies and 10 tackles...

yeah, exactly, Monty played 83% and got 23 touches.

i really think what is happening with Luke is his confidence in himself and his worry about his fitness.
in the off season would love to see him regain some speed and fitness to get to that level we know he can reach.

personally I would love to see Ball and Armitage used together - playing the same inside grunt role for 50% of each game ...

I would love to see Armitage developed into a McQualter like tackling, goal kicking half forward - in the mould of Knights from Adelaide.

Armitage can kick goals, he has proven that - and can tackle...not sure how quick he is though...

I hope Luke doesn't go anywhere, he made a very good argument for the need of heart and soul players.

Yes - it really is a bit confusing that he was used so sparingly when he was obviously playing at his best on Saturday. His tackles and clearances were second only to Lennie ....

He's a required player, the only way he'd leave is on his own terms.

After coming back into the side and playing a vital role, I doubt he'd go elsewhere.

But, I guess you never know.

His TOG has been very low for a while...

And while the club say he is 100% fit..it does make one wonder.

But who knows...maybe his anaerobic/aerobic capacity is such that he is best suited to short sustained bursts???

Armo is very quick, but in small bursts!

Until we have an administration that demands success and a playing group that bleeds for the guernsey, St. Kilda will just be a sh*tty football club.

At the start of the game, I said to the bloke next to me at the GF....Lukey Ball for the Norm Smith. He's a gun....not the plyer he was admttiedly, but exactly who you want in a tough match.

Had money on him for the Norm Smith and IMO if we'd won he would have polled quite well.

Quality players, leaders & individuals like Luke Ball are hard to come by so I hope for our sake he stays.

46% game time is a worry, but he was definitely one of our best on Saturday. Loved seeing him play well.

I think that the 46% game time reflects how much he actually gives when he is on the ground. Leaves absolutely nothing in the tank.

*Allegedly.

top idea!

Armo should physically be strong enough next season to be a hard nut, ready for in and under stuff.....perhaps you can't play much more than 50% game time in such a demanding role???

Jack Steven could also be a nice give to man, in a similar vein to how Dal operates alongside the in and unders (Ball/Lenny).

I'd love to see him stay on with more game time bt alas I think he may be put up for trade bait... perhaps Ball to Sydney in exchange for Ryan O'Keefe could be a possibility??

It would be madness to trade one of our top 3 or 4 players in the GF - we would not be there in 2010

according to Greg Westaway the main guys are all locked away,
I guess it depends on what you see as 'main guys'

but I have my fingers crossed

Very true. RL stated during the year that he like to rotate him with Lenny. Their roles are very taxing physically.
