The Irish Are Coming, Hurrah! Hurrah!

Kerry duo Tommy Walsh and David Moran are poised to reverse the recent trend and commit their futures to Australian Rules side St Kilda.

There are articles up to 3 days later than that one (Sep 30) which indicate that no decision has been made yet.

Sorry did not see your post.

Do you have the internet address for the "Irish Daily Star" so that we can check out the source story?

I can't find them by Googling.

I would assume that Ricky Nixon wont leave for Ireland next week, it being trade week.
AND he would save the tax deductible international travel and holiday for himself.

Means we wont get any more progress for at least a week and a bit.

I think we have a great chance of getting Tommy Walsh. The fact that that he came down last year, after the deadline, shows that us and him are still interested.

You would have to be pretty dumb to turn down an all expenses paid trip from Ireland to Australia when there was no obligations attached.
He got to see how another football code trained, got to benchmark himself against another code.
It was win-win for him.

But now he has been and seen and knows what is on offer he may like to come and stay.
AND make it win for him and win for the Saints.

I think you will find that Ricky has staff in Ireland and whether Ricky is there or not in any one particular week does not really matter.

Besides things have now with Walsh reached the stage that Nixon is now basically irrelevant in the Walsh Deal...

** St Kilda have to decide that they really want him

** Walsh has to decide if he really wants to come and dedicate several years of his life to being a professional footballer in Australia leaving his family and Gaelic Football behind. Pros and Cons either way and so is not an easy decision for him.

Just got this on the net!

Walsh set for St Kilda
(UKPA) – 7 hours ago

Kerry star Tommy Walsh has agreed a preliminary agreement with AFL club St Kilda.

And club and county colleague David Moran has also been offered a trial with the same club.

They are due to leave for Melbourne before the end of the year to embark on a new challenge.

But should they commit to the AFL club, it will be a major loss to the Kingdom footballers.

Sounds like good news.

Lance or James??

There comes a point in every man's life when he has to say, "Enough is enough." For me, that time is now. I have been dealing with claims that I cheated and had an unfair advantage in <redacted>. Over the past three years, I have been subjected to a <redacted>investigation followed by <redacted> witch hunt. The toll this has taken on my family, and my work for <redacted>and on me leads me to where I am today – finished with this nonsense. (Oops just got a spontaneous errection <unredacted>)

There is a snippet in todays Herald Sun. Palmers punchlines writes that tricky nicky will be heading over to the luck of the irish land to hopefully secure a couple of deals with these two blokes. He went on to say how much Tommy looks like Dulph Lundgren from the movie Rocky 4.

From Bigfooty:

Horsebox wrote: He'd (Walsh) be about 195cm and 100kg+.
Naturally very strong.
Moran is actually taller but not as muscular.
Moran would play midfield which in our game is where the big guys are because they have to contest the kick-outs.

This is Walsh a year ago.
He's bigger and better now.

http://www.hoganstand.com/ArticleForm.aspx?ID=116513 Michael Walsh should read Michael Quinn - S & Dung player trying to persuade Tommy Walsh not to come. Quinn will never mke it if he hasn't learnt what key position player is.

Seems VERY strong through the hips from that clip. They just couldn't bring him down. He would have to adjust a fair bit though. He would be done for holding the ball quite often judging by that.

Does anyone know how long Marty Clarke was in the system before he was ready to play?

I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.
