Trying to recall the names of our boys who went to Hawthorn and have given good service.

Joel Smith
B Guerra,
and argueably the best (whose name evades me). He wore #29 for them and played wing and back line.

yep Greenie was a sad one , some sort of last minute trade deal if I recall, and reputedly Russell 1st heard of it when he read his name in the paper as selected for the Hawks???

Traded for Mark Scott and someone called King.
Not the greatest trade ever made, but then again this is St Kilda.

Was named for us on Thursday night.
Played for Hawthorn on the Saturday.
Must have played 150+ more games with Hawth.

It was Tony King.

He received 2 or 3 brownlow votes for his "surprise" first game

Didn't play another descent game.

Went on to head the Basketball league.

Weirdest thing on the the day of the trade, the whispers running around the ground. Greeny's gone it was a strange day.

Tony King was potentially not a terrible trade.
I knew him a bit, and he was a very good player.
Mark Scott was an incredible player in certain regards. I don't think I've ever seen a straighter, longer kick. He could take a mark too. I liked following him -- I thought he was brilliant, in a limited way.
The two of them never added up to anything like Russell Greene.
We kept Warwick but gave away Russell! OMG!

Scott was a very handy full forward - (for our reserves).
And Warwick was much better than Russell - (at journalism)
