Them not having Shaw cancels out us not having Fisher.

Huge loss for the Pies.

Didn't mean to tease you there, just was surprised to see the Pies out already with the interesting ins and outs they have made. Will no doubt engage the debaters on match ups prior to our team even being named.

Some peculier selections there...

I guess Fraser will be spending a lot of time up forward...

Shaw is a bigger loss for them than Fisher is for us... whilst they are pretty much equal players IMO we have the likes of Gilbert, Goddard, Gram etc. to cover Fisher whereas they really lose a lot of run.

Good to see Fisher back in, just hope he's ready.

Disappointing to see McEvoy go out for King, I feel McEvoy gives us more around the ground, even if his start to the season has been less than spectacular.

Hopefully it's just a rotation policy we have with our ruckmen, I don't think any of them can play 25 matches straight...

What are your thoughts on King in for McEvoy? Anyone?

same could be said for having Fisher as CHF and BJ on a half back :)

not that BJ doesn't play HB, just that I would expect him to play more forward than Sam

Good move RL, McEvoy needs to go back to the VFL and really learn to become a elite ruckman. He has the potential just needs to find it.

I agree. I would expact to see McEvoy back next week and Gardi out for a weeks rest.

wow...RL is ruthless this week...!!!

Mind you an inform Jolly is probably the main danger from the Pies. So Gardi and King at the ruck contest may be to counter that possibility and to try and keep Jolly out of form.

That is a peculiar comment. Fisher is a very important player for us. His absence means BJ and Gram have more responsibility as defenders and Chips' quarterbacking is fantastic too. Shaw is just a player in my view, unless he is allowed to run free off the back line. That ain't in Ross's plan.

I hope Sammy Fisher does spend some time forward, I reckon he could kick some ass up there.

IMO, King played far better than McEvoy in Rd 1, yet was dropped for Gardi.

McEvoy didn't go much better in Rd 2, while King - by all reports - went pretty well in the VFL.

Fair's fair: McEvoy might be a fabulous prospect, but sporting teams in which form is not the main criterion used for selecting players don't tend to do particularly well.

I would say this is it.

remember the practice match against the Pies, Lyon left McEvoy on against Jolly in the ruck in the dying stages, and he got pretty towelled up. A very good learning experience for the young ruckman, and I'm sure it will help him in the long run, however we want a hard body in the final minutes of a tight match, and Rl obviously believes King and Gardiner are our best for this type of match.

Fisher back in a is a big in for us.

Is a very versatile looking Saints team. Lots of talent.

Suspect a rotating FF policy....

Fisher back in also means that BJ can play fulltime as mid/HFF...maybe even more asa forward this week. If so Maxwell will havea nightmare.

Just need to get Milne away from Harry O.
