Tony Lockett - Free Kicks For and Against

Post: # 939895Post Devilhead »

Overall

134 free kicks for
413 free kicks against

In his 1987 Brownlow year when Lockett kicked 117 goals - his free kick stats were

11 for
65 against

In 1989 he played 11 games and kicked 78 goals - his free kick stats were

5 for
35 against

Gotta love Plugger

Lol.

He was an angry ant but that is rediculous.

Just to add in 1988 he played 8 games for a measly 35 goals however his free kick stats were

3 for
21 against

All up from 1987 to 1989 his free kick stats totalled to

19 for
121 against

Impressive stuff

and spent most of his career with two or more defenders hanging off him and scragging him at every opportunity (within the limits of their physical courage).

there's no doubt he was a marked man by the umpires. just too good a player.

no doubt he infringed often as well.

How were his free kick stats when he played for the Swans vs when he played for us?

Any difference?

I suspect he is the greatest player I will ever see in my lifetime.

The word that comes to mind when I think of him is 'awesome'.

So often, he was just unbeatable.

I feel honoured to have seen him play.

Guest on Marngrook last night- name will come to me,
first game was against St Kilda and he was in the back line- thought he heard the whole St Kilda forward line pack behind him- found he was only crunched by Plugger- doesn't remember much more of the game.
Gilbert said he was right behind Plugger but let him go first

I'd be interested in that one too.

Also, how many reports and subsequent weeks? I can remember him losing more weeks to injury rather than suspension, but I can remember plenty of agro too.

Probably got more at the Swans but unlike you and conspiracies that have wrecked your neck it is probably due to playing with a little aggression.

Pretty sure the scales would've tipped the other way the moment he put a Swines jumper on

Bull s*** Plugger was a media hero as soon as he walked into the swans. same with Big Bad he all of a sudden was reformed as soon as he walked in the door- Hall was reported every time he breathed at the Saints and after seeing him hit Maguire on youtube recently it still makes me cringe at what could have been.

I wonder how he would go today with the way the game is umpired.

DO you have speacial antannae that 'prick up' whenever any opst is made that can be 'twisted' by you and your bosses into some sort of veiled criticism of them?

How does a genuine question about his free kick tally become fodder for your AFL Defense mantra?

Do you see disbelievers when you close your eyes at night?
Are they lurking in the shadows?
You need to take a holiday away from your masters - you're jumping at far too many shadows lately.

Or you should ask Dimwit and Monkey-Boy for an assistant because the job has obvioulsy gotten too big for you.

Hey Brat, I think the Dogs player on Marngrook last night was Rick Kennedy. As I recall, Plugger punched the crap out of him. Belted him with a succession of left and right punches to the head. That was the last time Kennedy ever grabbed Pluggers balls.

Marngrook's the best footy show on TV.

Plugger is likely to be the best footballer I will ever see.

Yeah remember that day at the Western Oval when Plug got rubbed out for hitting Kennedy

Next day was a photo of Plugger on top of Kennedy with his fist locked and loaded about to pound down on Kennedy's head - remember thinking that does not look good!!

Back on topic

Plugger free kick stats with Saints (171 games)

84 for - 270 against

with Swans (98 games)

50 for - 143 against

Barry Hall free kick stats with Saints (88 games)

60 for - 112 against

with Swans (162 games)

128 for - 252 against

With regards to the difference between free kicks for and free kicks against I would think that Plugger would be well ahead of any other player to have had played the game

Great work Devilhead.

So the ratio of frees against to frees for for the Fatboy was
3.21 when he was with us
2.86 when he was with The Parasites

Hall went the other way
1.87 with us
1.97 with them

Agree that Plugger's ratio of ~3 must be one of the highest ratios ever.
The default for Umps seemed to be if they weren't absolutely sure there hadn't been an infringement, then they would just pay it against him.

That always got Plugger mad and when he was mad he played even better.

What about the chopping of the arms rule he had 2 blokes chopping his arms every time he tried to mark.

How is the neck after these figures are quoted MM. Looks pretty level for both sides really.

My neck's fine plugger.

I'm still unsure why your masters felt the need to jump in on the question?
Afterall, as you state, the figures 'look pretty level for both sides' (your opinion).

It's really inconvenient for you that they weren't the other way around, though.

So by my reckoning plugger received an extra free approx every 3 games he played for the swans, than when he played for the Saints.

Not a lot in the overall scheme of things.

BTW, would it help if everybody put the following 'rider' before asking any questions:-

'Question not meant to be crtitical of the AFL, so no need to send plugger66 with a defense/deflection.'
