Sean Dempster

Post: # 958365Post Con Gorozidis »

I dont care what a single person says including Ross Lyon. Sean Demptser cant play footy. I had an open mind but hes a joke.

his positives seems to be all on paper and in the gym. hes tall athletic and probably tears it up in the gym. which is fine if ur in the chippendales. but the fact remains he can't play football

sometimes forumites see him chip in and get a kick or 2 when we are winning and when our good players make him look half a footballer.

fact is hes crap at football.

cant play tall
cant play small
cant play mid
cant play forward

whats his point? hes a utility and versatile on paper. but in reality he plays every position on the ground equally crap.
he cant win a lose ball (too slow and not agile)
cant win a marking contest or do body to body (no judgment and just terrible overhead)
he cant win his own ball in the middle
he cant tackle ( he just runs alongside his opponent.)
cant score.

he should just get a channel 7 camera and be an onfield camera man. cos thats his role.

basically he is a mobile spectator.

should quit footy and join a male strip group.

Not going to single him out, but I don't hold it against him that he was brought in when it was a midfielder that was the late withdrawal...

How the hell can you pick one player out of today's rabble and offer him up as the sacrificial lamb.
Plenty of other fodder there to screw over. Have a good look Con.

anyway address the issue. what role within a football team does he play?

and dont answer with "hes versatile".

he can play every position in theory. cant play any in reality. sadly games are played in reality not in paper or within our imaginations.

Dear Con
I won't address the issue of what role he plays in the team, because I don't really believe he has one. Nor do I believe that Kosi has one or Clarke has one or Dawson has one.
Dempster obviously has history with RL. What that may be is something only RL can answer.
Must be something good as he keeps coming back to the team.
Having said this of course he is not the first out of the squad this week IMO.

Kosi- Tall forward marking target
Dawson- Tall defender in the back 6 zone very similar to Blake
Dempster- Been used in a few roles, primarily as a tall defender and a run-with player. Occasionally been used to do forward tagging jobs a bit like Eddy

Fact, that is clearly opinion. Fact would be, Dempster has played 4 games for us this year.

Many posters cannot differentiate between fact and opinion IMO

yes. true. i forgot about this. he is most certainly a run-with player. he often runs alongside his opponent about 2 metres away watching his opponent play footy. i hope hes taking notes and writing a book on it.

correct. so what? noone on this forum is being paid 250k a year + social status + benefits associated with being an afl player.

and this is a footy forum. it designed for regular fans to provide opinion on footy. goes along with territory. its why they get paid the big bucks + receive the extra social benefits attached.

You can question a players position in the side, but you have said some pretty awful things in your OP about all he is good for.

Not a solitary shred of good to be had in singling out one of 22 who were not up to the task today. I know! Not a popular point of view but the truth is we had a bad day as a TEAM!
Lets get over it and move on!

I'm still aggrieved by the fact that this guy got selected to play in last year's GF over likes of a Max Hudghton or Goose Maguire.

It's time for RL to cut his losses and get rid of him.

This guy was going well in 08 (an ever-present) until that awful knee injury against the Bombers in round 22 I'm prepared to give him a wee bit more slack than some here I guess.
