"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'
It moves me to tears (and I'm an unemotional fat bastard).
Through the Saints we get so many messages. As a couch of both junior basketball and football who is lucky enough to have a very gifted bunch of kids, I will use this if you don't mind.
Adversity does create opportunity.
I am still hurting from 71;
my gut churns thinking of 97;
2009 was agony,
2010a was a pleasure to watch only to be devastated by 2010 b.
It hurts barracking for the Saints
Such mixed emotion we were so close so close,my son just said oh no!
We love this club!
Then had a laugh at Schwarza goal he remembered that night as I screamed not bloody Schwarz and he kicked that goal loved him from then on!
Go Saints bring on that last Saturday in September!
A couple of observations fromo watching it multiple times...
Has anyone ever seen the 'behind the goals" camera when Roo soccered thru the winner in the PF? Did Joey actually handpass the ball into Roos' path or did it just fumble its way there? One of the great goal assists of all time if it was deliberate.
Also..that slomo shot of the players and crowd erupting after the siren went. That bay immediately to the right of the Interchange bench had more SS luminaries in it than you could poke a stick at..some very emotional grown men (and ladies) in there let me tell you
That vid really brought tears to my eyes too, absolutely inspirational stuff. Seeing a Saints premiership in my lifetime is one of my goals in life. Hopefully it can happen this year.

Thanks for posting that. Funny how whenever I hear that song it reminds me of the video re the grandfinal that was doing the rounds earlier in the year. Just hearing the song brings tears to the eyes, a tightening in the chest, and visions of the players. Still breaks my heart. But this video also highlighted some fantastic plays too. That goal in the prelim was amazing. I've never been as stressed at a game as that night. The slow mo footage of the siren going is awesome, and the emotion with the guys, straight after nick's goal, then when the siren went.
So much emotion in that video. 8 days apart we experienced the highest of highs and lowest of lows. That's footy I guess. You have to take the chance of getting your heart broken to experience the ultimate. So many of us felt after the GF that we didn't know if we could go through it again, but here we are doing exactly that. It really is like a relationship. You have to risk the pain for the hope of experiencing the pleasure.
