The Beaumaris
Had lunch today at The Beaumaris.
Pretty ordinary meal and I must say the ambience was ordinary too.
Maybe it needs a better name.
Started out as the Great Southern Hotel in 1889, then became the Hotel Beaumaris and later the Beaumaris Hotel, more lately the Beaumaris Pavillion.
I remember it as the Beauie in the sixties and used to go there to see the Red Onions Jazz Band, who roughly became the Loved Ones.
I reckon it should now be called Snappers for two reasons. You can catch snapper in the bay across the road.
Also in honour of the part owner Sam Gilbert. Maybe you could have your picture taken by Sam. Great marketing opportunity.

Old enough to repaint, but young enough to sell

I used to frequent the Beauy back in the day when I was associated with the Beauy Ammos. Enjoyed many a good night there.Bernard Shakey wrote:Had lunch today at The Beaumaris.

Several years later, I went back to my old haunt for a meal and noticed they had jazzed it all up.
Seemed to have lost all its charm and become just another expensive yuppy place. Sad really.
