A comment was made on "Footy Classified" this week that the Suns would win their first premiership before St.Kilda & Western Bulldogs win their second, do you agree? Also, do you think Caro was more appealing when she played Olive in "On the buses"?

Should that include Shitmond?

Another opportunity awaits!

I agree that it's a possibility.

But that doesn't apply just to the Saints and to the Bulldogs.

The way the AFL works pretty much means you get a few years (3-4 if you're lucky) at being a top 4 - top 2 side and being a contender. But there's no guarantee that you get a flag during this period! Regardless of your history!

The Suns, like every other team, will fit into the above category at some stage too. But it doesn't mean for a second that they'll win one!

So of course they could win a flag before we do, They could also win one before Collingwood does.

But, they might have to wait 50 years to win one and during that period we might win 8!

It's amazing how these 'experts' can be so analytical and technical, then in an instant become just another f***wit opposition supporter bagging clubs and making senseless calls with no regard for how the game actually works.

Freo? There's plenty other low achievers there...a couple years ago you could have said the same thing about Collingwood, and the Hawks were reigning premiers!

It's not an outragous comment. West Coast, Adelaide, Brisbane, Port Adelaide and Sydney all did.

Sydney took 73 years...we're not looking that bad, IMO.

Considering we've won one in 115 years, and somehow managed to lose the last two,I'd say it's a pretty reasonable assessment considering the AFL will move heaven and earth to make sure there side wins one

The first part makes no sense at all.

Why would winning 1 flag in 115 years have anything to do with how long it will take before we win another one?

And why would somehow managing to lose the last 2 have any bearing on what will happen in the next 3-4 or even 8-9 years??

The last part I agree with though.

To state the bleeding obvious (though some don't seem to get it) ...

As the competition expands it gets harder and harder to win a premiership.

In the old days the peak of your cycle might coincide with two or three other teams who were "up". Now there could be six teams up at the same time.
So odds reduce.

The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.
They can even WATCH LIVE FOOTY!

That's why it's such a stupid thing to say.

What I assume they're trying to suggest, is that the Saints and the Bulldogs are losers and won't win a flag during this crack it at. And that by the time both clubs are back in contention the Gold Coast will already be a force.

If they said that, I wouldn't agree with it but I could understand their logic (of course not the losers bit!).
But that's not what they're saying. They're going down the dipshit path of 'the Saints are so s*** that they've only won 1 flag and are cursed or something and will never win one' and so on.

Don't start that again EM, you know it makes no sense...the statistics don't add up (e.g. Hawthorn's first 40 years, versus their second 40 years).

I remember watching us clobber the WCE when they came into the comp, then beating the new Adelaide and PA ..and the rest was history. Money goes a long way to getting a flag, and the intersate teams had plenty, plus the AFL moving hell and high water to ensure all interstate teams got a flag. It shouldn't disguise the fact that we have been let down by terrible recruiting and poor management for years and that's one of the main reasons we have not had more success, though the club is now well managed, I think we still dropped the ball a bit on recruiting and player development over the last 6 or 7 years.

Everyone should just watch Marngrook. It ain't pure, but it has heart.

Any other footy telly is simply embarrassingly s***.

Roos almost rectifies On the Couch, tho. But Noddy's just gotta understand that it's time to go...Please someone have a word...

"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'

Footy is such a funny game.

Sydney play in 2 Grand Finals. They win one by a point and lose one by a point. And Paul Roos is a genius and Sydney redefined the game.

We play in 2 Grand Finals. Lose one by a kick and Draw the other.

And we're losers who will never win another flag in the history of the sport.

It's certainly a game of inches, that's for sure!

Sydney won theirs by four points. But I get your point.

Including the NAB Cup, St Kilda have played in four draws in their last eighteen games, not including either Geelong match.

Barracking for St Kilda is not good for your life expectancy.

Because we set up to stop the opposition winning. Often it works.

It's a big part of our success - but also a big part of our lack of success!

By playing the restrictive style that we play, we've always in the game. It's very hard for our opponents to score enough to shake us off their tails.

However by not scoring enough ourselves, our opponents are never out of it either!

We always allow the opposition a sniff.

Ironic really, as you actually need an exceptionally Long life to see us win one
