it's Elshaugh's first year as the Grand Poobah of recruiting so we'll have to cut him a little bit of slack...
Saints looking like a bottom 4 team in 2024.

Just so long as we check with the Port people that he is of good character and that his problems are all behind himSaintPav wrote:We should use it to get Motlop from Port. He will add some pace to our forward line and add a bit more bite around the packs as well as some more spice in the off field area. Awesome!

Yeah maybe James Hird and John Quinn can act as consultantsDr Spaceman wrote:Just so long as we check with the Port people that he is of good character and that his problems are all behind himSaintPav wrote:We should use it to get Motlop from Port. Nah I reckon Port will want 2 first round draft picks from us for Motlop. After all, thats what we gave them for Barry BrooksDr Spaceman wrote:Just so long as we check with the Port people that he is of good character and that his problems are all behind himSaintPav wrote:We should use it to get Motlop from Port. I suppose if we were to give Collingwood a package of Riewoldt, Goddard, Dal Santo, Fisher and Montagna they may be prepared to give us their first pick in returnÂ

On current form, we'll end up with 8, 10 or 12.
However, after our 2nd bye, we may have a flood of wins, with the combination of (relatively) easy opposition, and the expectation of blokes like Gardi, Kosi, Ledger and Geary back to fitness.
Essentially, we can end up with any draft pick*, but I believe it's no 10.
*except 1,2,3,5,7,9,11,13,15.

See at the moment Swallow's hot and cold, Bennell is a lazy, soft wuss, Day isn't getting picked, but gee that Heppell who went at eight looks a player with time, poise and a tank and Darling at twenty odd looks handy as.goddardisgod wrote:On current form, we'll end up with 8, 10 or 12.

Lottery.
"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'

Most players 17-18 yo will not show anything for 3 to 4 seasons. If we expect to grab a first round pick that carries us to a GF in their first season we may need to cut the medication down. Getting guys from other clubs and the vfl, wafl, sanfl etc. is popular because they are already hardened footballers ready to take off. Thats why we exchange late picks for them.
