The car crash is still in motion
A poster recently likened our current situation to watching a car crash in slow motion.
It’s actually a really good analogy and unfortunately the reality is the crash isn’t complete.
And the reality is it won’t be complete for a while yet.
You just know that implosion is imminent; you just don’t know the exact timing or the final damage.
My hope is that we become a progressive organisation and act quickly and decisively with bold, hard and non conventional decisions.
Decisions not based on team harmony, or decisions based on what’s good for the “fabricâ€

Everytime I read a thread that you have started it seems to be negative.
What's not positive about that statement?Cairnsman wrote:My hope is that we become a progressive organisation and act quickly and decisively with bold, hard and non conventional decisions.

Fair enough, TBH I stopped reading after the line about imminent implosion, however it does seem the subjects and general gist of your threads are negative.Cairnsman wrote:Saint_Ash wrote:Do you actually start any positive threads?

My appologies officer but right at the moment I would argue that it is brutal honesty. Goddard needs a holiday. I for one hope he gets it this week.Saint_Ash wrote:Fair enough, TBH I stopped reading after the line about imminent implosion, however it does seem the subjects and general gist of your threads are negative.Cairnsman wrote:Saint_Ash wrote:Do you actually start any positive threads?

Is there actually anything positive to say at the moment.Saint_Ash wrote:Do you actually start any positive threads?

I agree with the OP re Goddard
He seems to be have a completely negative impact on the club.
I was watching against Carlton and you could see saints players everytime they made a mistake look over their shoulder to see if BJ had seen it and was about to give them a spray.
In terms of our knowledge of what is good for team harmony he seems to be almost as damaging as say a Fevola, in regard to team spirit and bringing the team together.
There I have said it, I may be wrong however I do know that there seems to be something occurring within the club that is way beyond what we can see.

Of course there is.terry smith rules wrote:Is there actually anything positive to say at the moment.Saint_Ash wrote:Do you actually start any positive threads?

Are you saying the improvement in Armo's game isn't positive?
How about Siposs and Cripps coming in and making good contributions straight away?
What about the fact that we have shown we can put together good quarters or halves of football, granted we need to apply it for the full game, but we have shown that we can do it.

Are you not comparing Goddard's current form to his past perfomances??
What's to say that 2010 wasn't just an extraordinary year for him and he is currently performing at a level which seems poor compared to last year but is actually about the same as the years prior?
No doubt he is not performing like he did last year, but I don't think his drop in form is any worse than most of the players in the team.

Get Fair dinkum. Talk about throwing some mayonaise on the scenario. AS if players have time to look over their shoulder, locate BJ on the field and then work out if he's about to give them a spray - all while the play is hurtling along around themterry smith rules wrote:[

How about we stick to the facts
What are his credentials dont know that I've heard of himsaintspremiers wrote:
Let's hope he doesn't go to GWS and we get Jack Shyte for him.
Anyway I prefer to look at our situation using Big Reds analogy

Getting Goddard to go head to head with a player isn't working, yet it worked the week previous for Gilbert.Cairnsman wrote:what does that mean?SainterK wrote:You can't treat every footballer with the same footy medicine.
Different players, require different approaches.
I'd send him forward personally, the glimmers of form appear to have been sparked when he has played there this year.
And how would he have gone last week in the last 3 quarters?SainterK wrote:Getting Goddard to go head to head with a player isn't working, yet it worked the week previous for Gilbert.Cairnsman wrote:what does that mean?SainterK wrote:You can't treat every footballer with the same footy medicine.

7 poor performances in a row. How many should he be allowed?plugger66 wrote:And how would he have gone last week in the last 3 quarters?SainterK wrote:Getting Goddard to go head to head with a player isn't working, yet it worked the week previous for Gilbert.Cairnsman wrote:what does that mean?SainterK wrote:You can't treat every footballer with the same footy medicine.

See I don't get that. Normally players of Goddards ilk only allow themselves to have one, maybe two bads in a row. His problem is clearly not going away anytime soon. Who was the last AFL champion to just drop off like Goddard has? He needs a holiday. There is clearly something wrong with him. They gave him 3 days off after the season was only 2 rounds old. Whatever the reason, it doesn't look like he is going to sort it out under the scrutiny of an AFL game and the press will start to wind up on him now.plugger66 wrote:As many as it takes for him to come good.Cairnsman wrote:7 poor performances in a row. Well who knows, if Roo had pushed up the ground maybe well.plugger66 wrote:And how would he have gone last week in the last 3 quarters?SainterK wrote:Getting Goddard to go head to head with a player isn't working, yet it worked the week previous for Gilbert.Cairnsman wrote:what does that mean?SainterK wrote:You can't treat every footballer with the same footy medicine.

Unless Rooy was in the middle it wouldnt have mattered where he played after quarter on Saturday. BJ is a great HBF so lets just give him time there.SainterK wrote:Well who knows, if Roo had pushed up the ground maybe well.plugger66 wrote:And how would he have gone last week in the last 3 quarters?SainterK wrote:Getting Goddard to go head to head with a player isn't working, yet it worked the week previous for Gilbert.Cairnsman wrote:what does that mean?SainterK wrote:You can't treat every footballer with the same footy medicine.

BJ was a great HBF. Players can be, and have been converted successfully to other positions. But right now he needs more of a holliday than being told to relax on the playing field. I think RL will be doing him an injustice if he leaves him in the team and continues to underperform because the media scrutiny will intensify dramatically by the week and you'd think the problem will compound.plugger66 wrote:Unless Rooy was in the middle it wouldnt have mattered where he played after quarter on Saturday.
