Team vs Bulldogs

Post: # 1085879Post mad saint guy »

I think Dawson should go this week. With no Hall they have no power forward and Dawson has been letting the team down with poor attack on simple contests. Simpkin showed nerves but also talent; should hold his spot. I have a feeling Siposs might have a week off...he's one of the youngest players in the AFL and has been asked to be the main deep marking targe for the past couple of weeks which would take a toll on a young body. I am hoping he stays in though and gets tonplay the third forward. Joey also likely to miss with his knee injury. Polo was ordinary but you'd think he'll get another crack.

From Sandy the one who has really demanded a game has been Raph, while Walsh has also been in excellent form. Apparently Kosi didn't play the final quarter for Sandy, indicating that he will come in.

Out: Montagna, Dawson
In: Clarke, Koschitzke

B: Gwilt, Simpkin, Baker
HB: Gilbert, Fisher, Clarke
C: Ledger, Armitage, Jones
HF: Schneider, Riewoldt, Goddard
F: Milne, Koschitzke, Siposs

Foll: McEvoy, Dal Santo, Steven
Int: Ray, Dempster, Polo, Peake (sub)

Emg: Smith, Johnson, Walsh

Apparently Kosi didn't really play the quarters he was on the ground.....

I don't have the answers but i believe Kosi will go down as one of St Kilda's biggest enigmas, a player who could have been anything but ended up anything but.......

How does that happen....????????

Injury, and a changing game.

Bit defender heavy I reckon

Walsh will start forward, Raph will cover for Fisher to be used elsewhere

Against the cats Lake went forward in the last quarter and kicked three goals. He'd probably be called a power forward if he plays there.

Against another side maybe but I think it's a bit too tall v the Dogs.

Raph will play.
Walsh should get a game, probably as sub.

Joey needs a rest.
Polo is not good enough.

Time for Walsh to debut after several solid/impressive performances with Sandy.

Better to get the first one out of the way against the Bulldogs than the foliowing week against the Cats. Or to have to wait another couple of weeks after that due to the bye.

The time is now :)

Like the ins...not the outs.

Polo was woeful but we need clearance/in under players and thats what he is...

Id add Dawson to the outs with Joey and Siposs to sub.

Yeah Polo had me tearing my hair out at times, especially with his disposal, but at least he was trying to get something happening.

Better than stopping, going back and then still turning it over.

While I agree we need clearance/in under players, has Polo really shown this so far in his few matches? I'd be surprised if he has averaged more than 1 clearance per game.

Walsh probably deserves a game, but he doesn't have a real matchup against the Dogs. Bring him in against Geelong and let him play on Pods, Vardy or Hawkins. Sure Geelong are a strong side, but there tall forwards aren't great. Any of the 3 would be the perfect match up for Walsh.

Joey will be out. Couldnt walk yesterday. Siposs needs a rest but there isnt much in the reserves.

In Clarke

Out Joey

Walsh has no spot but may somehow still play. He cant play forward. How unfair would that be on him. Practice back in the seconds and play forward in the ones without practice.

But you never know.

We may witness the spectacle of both Walsh and Lake playing out of their respective goal squares.

Siposs won't be a sub, they have all been mids to date. Not sure if he needs a rest. He didn't get much supply, and did a good job of keeping Maxwell out of the game.

Ledger will stay. Sub again unless he can run out a game.

Clarke for Joey makes no sense, Clarke's not a clearance player.

I'm going to tip Ali Smith in for Joey, and possibly Walsh for Simpkin.

If Joey miss out, I think Gram will come in.

Agree that there's a good chance we can easily become a bit too defender-heavy...maybe Smith gets another run should Joey not pull up well? Gram would seem like an ok inclusion, but I'm not sure what the selectors would be looking for in his Sandy performances to warrant a recall - from all reports it seems he wasn't great yesterday (but not bad either).

Consider this - Dawson to full forward (can't have him as FB) and if he doesn't fire a FF after a few games then he must go. Polo gone never to return. My heart was in my mouth every time he went anywhere near the ball. Walsh and Clarke into the team. I think that Tommy Walsh could not do any worse. Give him time at FB to get adjusted. We do have to make some changes to our forward line and is it worth giving young Daniel Archer another try?

You have to wonder WHY they decided to keep playing Monty when obviously he wasn't right? Another example of RL playing players who are not %100 fit! All this hype about Misson and their player management is bullshyte - they continue to make very poor decisions with injured players on match days!

RL and his team had a very ordinary day on Saturday !

SAINTS another day older another day closer to the Holy Grail!

harsh on polo.

schneider and milne had their usual "big game" performances.

milney/schneids/armo and zac were our 4 poor players.

in the case of milney and schneids they alwaya play bad in big games.

In the case of schneids, not if it's against us

Can't blame Milney and Sneids if the ball doesn't get down to them. Saints could not get the ball out of the middle and down to our forwards. There is the problem added to the fact that Rooey needs to stay a bit closer to home when playing on the forward line.

Polo must be omitted, he is not up to AFL standard, decision making and skills are terrible. Raph and Walsh must play, use Walsh as the swing player,

I base this upon the fact that even though he is obviously trying, his disposal is just killing us.

He is already equal 2nd for direct kicks to the opposition, and is creeping up there in critical errors and turnovers.

Not saying it's all over for him, just needs to work on some things IMO. I'd much rather Ledger be given his role at the moment.

Agree on Schneider, he was not only quiet but his direct opponent Leon smashed him, very disappointing. I thought Milne still worked hard, won a few frees had quite a few clearances, but like Roo, when your inside 50's are 38 v 60...
