i guess the defensive coaches are going to be busy this week teaching Lynch to sell his teammates into trouble with slow decision making and poor disposal?Life Long Saint wrote:Lynch can stay and play Raph Clarke's role.
I bought a shirt from Target once.
It had a hard tag on it too.
I know how Dal feels.

Kosi will have to come in, as we will need some sort of legitimate second ruckman to help out Mac against Cox and Naita... Probably the best ruck combo in the comp, and serious midfield/clearance monsters...
Hopefully Kosi has freshened up and trained hard with his 2 week layoff, not due to injury, and that many of the niggles he seems to be carrying have eased..
Who to drop is the hard one...
I dont like Gamble in the side, and Im convinced he will not succeed in the matches where we'll need him most, however, he kicked 4, and will obviously hold his spot...
Lynch played that forward/pinch hit ruck role today, so he seems most likely to make way... Huge mistake IMO, as I recon he's been great the last 2 weeks, and will improve Jack Steven like in the next 2 months if given a consistent run at it...
Unlikely to happen...
Obviously Raph is on thin ice, he always is... Did ok today, he's just so hesitant with the ball and almost gets run down every second possession he gets... This will be punished against the better sides... Port were really no opposition today...
Gram has been thrown around, is playing pretty poor footy, and not putting his body on the line...
Armo may be in MRP danger...
Personally, I'd drop Polo, cos he's crap, and reshuffle the roles a little bit to fit Kosi in... Maybe this means Armo as sub again, or Raph, or maybe even Gram...
But my change would be Polo out, Kosi in...

It will probably just be Lynch out for Kosi. I agree with Sobraz that Gamble will keep his spot on the back of easy goals against weak opposition only to go missing under pressure.
My changes would be Gram, Gamble and Polo out for Kosi, Siposs and Smith (sub) but that isn't gonna happen. Baker and Blake may be in contention to replace Polo or Clarke as well.

I used to have faith in Clarke and Gram, but after this afternoon's efforts I fear for their futures at the club. Clarke looks as though his confidence is shot and Gram doesn't seem to think that a game of AFL footy requires 120+ minutes of constant effort. Clarke needs time with a psychologist and Gram needs time with a motivation specialist.
I'm livin' in a madhouse
After 6 or so years in the AFL system, Clarke has never found his mark. I honestly don't know why we have persisted with him for so long. He's played 2 half decent games in his entire career (08 semi against the Filth and WC at Subi last year).westy wrote:I used to have faith in Clarke and Gram, but after this afternoon's efforts I fear for their futures at the club. Gram just butchers the ball completely and doesn't go in hard enough. He looks more like a ballet dancer than a footballer at the moment.

Kosi coming back in will probably happen but should it?
This will mean breaking a combination which has won2 straight and bringing in a guy who always takes a number of weeks to get going.
If he is in it will be a tough one. Cant see clarke or gram out as they both have doen ok in recent weeks - i thought Clarke ok todya and Gram did a really good role last week and was servicable today.
Perhaps lynch although has done nothing wrong. Worry we will be too top heavy .McEvoy has played high % of minutes especially in ruck - will this change that much with Kosi... if not is it worth rucking with a Dawson/Lynch type for 5 min here or there and have another runner?

great posts. i have been a huge fan of clarke and thought people use him as a scapegoat which i feel they still do to a certain extent. however, its come to the point where you cant defend him anymore. i think sometimes people tend to think he's a 1-3 year player as opposed to someone who's been in the system 6 years. i cant think of another player whos been in the system 6 years as a "developing player". i really hope he makes it, he does show the effort and by all reports is a top bloke.Old Mate wrote:After 6 or so years in the AFL system, Clarke has never found his mark. gram on the other hand is a completely different story. he was dropped for poor form. i believe his poor form its 50 split 50 between recovering from injury and a terrible work ethic. maybe he should lay off the piss for a while, realize he isnt the star he thinks he is and commit himself to the training/rehabilitation/work on field cycle required to be a good afl player .
anyway his form and effort was so bad he was sent back to the vfl. only for him to ignore the warning and deliver the same shithouse performance. for some unknown reason we lost our nerve and elevated him back into the senior side when he hadnt changed at all. mean while blokes in the vfl can burn the house down with effort and form, only to find it near impossible to be selected in the senior side.
if were serious about selection integrity we'd send gram back to the vfl and let him rott there until he turns it around. we cant keep dragging these players over the line when they dont want to help themselves.
Those thinking Raph didn't do a servicable job, answer me this, who did he play on today?
Give you a clue, he didn't kick any goals, and Raph had as much of the ball as he did.
Watch the replay, don't just focus on the couple of errant handpasses, watch his team orientated stuff, and who his actual opponent was.

Because we're desperately in need of a backup ruckman and another tall forward. Both roles happen to be the ones Kosi plays. Or would you rather McEvoy rucks 120 minutes against Cox and Naitanui and Riewoldt is triple teamed?saintjake wrote:Please, please, PLEASE tell me why Kosi MUST come in!Moorabbin Man wrote:Kosi must come in next week, but please Ross DO NOT drop Tommy Lynch. I would suggest Raph or Polo.
PS Well done today to Tom Lynch.

Had his best game for some time against the Cats when he got rubbed out. Not a great game, but definitely a sign he may be on the way back.
Pencil him in.
