Are we fit enough ?

Post: # 1106113Post WinnersOnly »

I wonder if we are as fit as we have been in the past 2 years? We don't seem to be able to run out all 4 quarters. We finished well but blokes like Jones, Gilbert, Gram and a number of others don't seem to have the run they previously have.

But great win Saints , let's hope Gwilts knee is not too bad!

The fact that we outran West Coast, who are considered a running side, suggests we are fit enough. Our game plan takes its toll on our opponents, so that also helps us.

Also, it was a fast paced and consistently intense game, so both teams looked out on their feet at the end.

Armitage, Schneider and Gram probably need a big preseason. But otherwise we looked OK.

We are and we're only going to improve in that area. We started a bit behind everyone else this year due to a number of factors. But like Kiwi in the 1983 Melbourne Cup, we're rattling home, albeit from a long way back!

gilbert at one stage in the last quarter was coming up the field like a comet, huge run and at a manic pace, can't do that if your not fit.

Most are. Ryan Gamble could do with a bit of improvement in that regard. He could hardly run back onto the field after a rest let alone run off. To be fair, he was doing a lot of decoy running during the night. Nick Riewoldt was also buggered, but his opponent even more so, evidenced by his last pass on the backline.

Didn't Milney's eyes light up. Ever the opportunist.
