Bailey Sacked

As to be expected. The swiftness is not surprising either. It's a shame he seems like a good bloke.

Reported on ABC news Twitter and by Mark Robinson also in the last hour.

Unconfirmed re: future of Cameron Schwab and Chris Connolly.

Disagree re: Bailey. FFS Melbourne win 4 more games and they make the finals (or are at least a big chance). They should have at least stuck with him until the end of the season.

When was the last time a coach got sacked when his side was still in the finals race?

Maybe Dean fell into a 'it's him or me' when it came to Schwab?

Agree Legendary..was extremely unlikely to continue next year after that result but sacking him now achieves very little..would have given the players a chance to respond this week against Carlton..a brutal game sometimes

I know you are speaking mathematically but if Melbourne are still in the race for the finals then we are a certainty for the flag.

Amazing that most of the same 22 will trot out against Carlton though

Never the players fault is it....

Do your ladder predictor on AFL.com...as ridiculous as it seems, they are a massive chance for 8th spot playing GC,Richmond and Port in last 3. I reckon they are 50/50

They are a chance for the eight only now because they finally got rid of Bailey.

Can't believe he lasted this long, useless coach, way worse than Craig ever was!

Well done award to the Dees players for going on strike during a match.

I doubt Bailey will be on speaking terms with many/any of his ex-players.

I hope they beat Carlton next week - would be funny!

Interesting that Eddie is threatening to sue any club that approaches Malthouse to coach next year.

Any bets the Demons approach him first.

You think?

He might be a chance to stay if he didn't like the coach?

Dean Bailey is a quality person with far more knowledge of football/coaching /pretty much everything than you.
If he is "useless" then that makes you sub-sub useless! In fact you aren't worthy of cleaning the dunnies at a mcdonalds within 10km of his house. I hope that is perfectly clear!

True, though he isn't worth it IMO.

Should have waited until the end of the year. It's only 5 weeks. I really dislike these types of sackings.

It is interesting that his playing career with Essendon was from 1986 to 1992, exactly between their two premierships. Then again, some very good, and premiership successful, coaches never played in a premiership team. However, it does seem to confer greater than usual tenure to fulfil the dream.

I reckon you would have sacked him after his first loss.
