I think they are both playing for draft picks...

Not sure what to make of this.
If the Tigers win, which looks likely now, and if we beat Sydney, then we may end up playing Essendon first week of finals.

I would not be looking forward to that game.

nice work tiges!!!!

for me, the more we win, the higher our confidence.

hopefully this will really tear down the swans confidence as well.

Go Tiges!

Awesome win.

Pressure off us next week, week after North will be tanking.

6th is ours!!!

If we play Essendon in week one, it will be at the G and Carlton will play Freo at Jihad.

Think the season has a few more curve balls to be honest.

Could be any one of Kangas, Dons, Freo

(Don't forget Dons have WCE and the bye)

We're playing the Bombers week one.

Even if we drop 2 more games for the rest of the year, the Bombers (would need to beat Eagles at Subiaco) or Swans (would need to beat Cats at Skilled) would have to pull off huge upsets to leapfrog us in 6th spot ...

So the good news is that we are now likely to have a home final, and certainly it should be at Etihad.

The (bad/good?) news is that Essendon is now a 95% chance to be our opponent in that first final ...

Essendon would have to lose to the Eagles (likely) and lose to Port Adelaide at Etihad NOT to finish in 7th ... (or the Swans would have to beat us AND the Cats at Skilled)

Will be the Bombers.

Unless they lose to Port at Etihad, or the Swans beat us AND the Cats at Skilled then 7th spot is Essendon's

Yes its looking Essendon in the 1st week of the finals

If we beat Sydney then they will need to win both of their last two games against Geelong at Skilled (fat chance) and Brisbane in sydney to finish 7th - Essendon play West coast in Perth and Port in Melb - if sydney lose 2 of their last 3 games then Essendon only need to beat Port to stay above them

Sydney could still finish 6 or 7 if they beat us - massive game this week

North still have an outside chance of making it given their run in but I reckon Freo are gone (North vs Freo next week at Etihad - Freo then have the Pies and North have us)

Sydney need to beat us by about 70 points to leapfrog us next week.

If the Swans win next week then the most likely scenario is us still finishing 6th (unless we get flogged), Swans 7th and Bummers 8th. Should we tank it?

In all seriousness, I like us against the Bummers come finals (different type of game) and I like us against them at the 'G' compared to Etihad.

The bombers do worry me. However it is finals and what's the point in being there if you don't back yourself against a lower team.

We are now well positioned, without having to flog the team to get there.

Hopefully, with a few extra days rest and with Sydney losing today, we can win comfortably next week. On the other hand, Sydney will have their backs to the wall for "a must win effort."

Essendon always make me nervous!

I posted thus query on another thread last week but it got buried:

If we have 6th sown up by Rd 24, should we rest some guys v carlscum? I'm sure Big Ben needs one.

Or we could just 'tune up' like we did v crows last year

Thoughts?

I know we shouldnt worry about any side outside the top 5 but if i was thinking about winning the first final I would rather Sydney any day of the week. Have no idea why we wanted them to lose today. I suppose it has happened so who cares.

It is something the coaches have to think about.

Bombers have a bye rnd 24, thats the interesting part.

So if positions are locked the bombers have 2 whole weeks to prep for a finals match against us. I think that is a huge advantage .

Do you back us to certainly give it a good shot say second week against the Eagles? Carlton yes however unsure about the Eagles.

If 6th spot is consolidated by then, I would favour using the Carlton match as a "tune-up" as per the Crows last year. Yes, rest a couple if needed.

Essendon have a bye that week, so they will be coming in to the finals "refreshed."
