my summation and assumption

despite us having played them 6 times since he left this was the first time he had played the Saints on Saints home turf as an opposition Player.
maybe he was remembering when it felt like Home and not the 'enemy'.

many Saints still feel 'jilted' by Luke and the fact that he didn't feel he could 'work hard' (his words) to play with the Saints. But has done so for someone else.

He spoke late last year of hoping the Saints fans had ' gotten used to' him not being a Saint and understanding... his winning a premiership against the Saints hurt and his every bonus since may continue to grit... and his more recent ' leadership' at the Pies just keeps to the fore his defection.

several on here noted he was physically ill following the game.

ps this comment is completely coloured by my feelings...irrational as they may be...wish I could understand as the players do.

Isn't it time to let the whole "Ball is a rat" issue go?

I mean I am sure he is happy at Collingwood, is playing the best football of his career since 2005 and has a premiership medaalion.

I am sure he didn't sook.

Lance or James??

There comes a point in every man's life when he has to say, "Enough is enough." For me, that time is now. I have been dealing with claims that I cheated and had an unfair advantage in <redacted>. It's hard not to be bitter about the whole thing, especially when you have pies supporters rubbing in your face every time, but I have to say, I'm amazed that he's playing as well as he is. Never thought he would be capable of it again. That's life though, can't stay bitter forever. He's not the first and won't be the last bloke to leave our club under acrimonious circumstances.'

Sorry Saint brat I appear to have stuffed your quote up to make it appear that my comments were yours. I've tried to fix it as best I can

I think it's indicative of the nature of loyalty that resonates in AFL.

I think Ball is torn. He made the right decision for himself. He won a premiership, will probably end up making more money, and was pretty much guaranteed a spot in the 22 week in week out.

But he left the club, his home for 8 years, on such bad terms that some of the most loyal fans of the club who used to cheer for him are now booing and sledging him. On top of that, the premiership was won against the saints, and it will probably still pain him to see us fall.

I'm not sure of his place in the saints history now. Is he a rubbish turncoat, who left for his own selfish reasons? Is he a great player and servant who was pushed out by an "almost" good enough coach? Or does the truth lie between the extremes? Will he ever be accepted back? Does he need to be?

I miss him. I think he's happy, but still misses us.

It doesn't worry me that he's gone.

It doesn't worry me that he won a flag with the enemy.

And therefore I'm not concerned if playing us at home gave him a dose of the sooks.

He's just a Collingwood player in my eyes. Sook away fella!

Good post, when I think Saints, I think Strength Through Loyalty. I think Barks, Harves, Burkey and Loewey. While they don't have a premiership between them, I hold them all in the highest regard for what they did for the club - LB will never been held in the same esteem by any saints supporter and I hope he loses sleep over it. Bitter, me, no, never.... Collingwood filth, thats all it is... now can we please read about something other than Ball, Howard or Sweeney? Please?

Luke Ball: turned his back on The Saints to become a Filth player = TRAITOR

The Saints offered him a contract for (supposedly) the same money as The filth offered... He chose The Filth.

Take Bally out of Collingwood's line-up in last year's G.F...put him in a Saints jumper for that game and we most likely would have won....

The Mongrel's a traitor and deserves to be told so each time The Saints meet The Fitlh.

Why would he sook away???? I'd say he'd have the least amount of reasons to sook. It was in front of aisle 42 when he got a free for and picked himself off the ground and grabbed his jumper and kissed it.

Apparently.

Luke Ball is the same player he was with us but now in a better side and in a side that desperately needed him.

Watched him closely in our last game against Pies - we won ruck ascendacy, kept the ball away from the feet of Jolley and Balls influence was minimal.

He still kicks 30 meters and cant run out of sight on a dark night.

St Kilda have Lenny Hayes in and under who can ALSO run/carry. He is a Ferrari over Luke Ball.

No doubt Luke Ball would be handy in St Kilda now - on 500k a year for 2 years?..No.

Ball was offered a contract - he said no. THAT IS FACT.

Can we move on FFS?

So much wasted energy in abusing Ball. I much prefer to CHEER for the Saints! The guy was/is a gun, left us, and is now filth. I'm over it all!
