Hard to see Ross deviating from the 22 from last Saturday night + Armo.
So who misses out?

It's not necessarily what I think is best, but I suspect Gardiner will play a similar role as last Saturday; playing most of the first half in the ruck to tire Mumford and keep McEvoy fresh before coming off for Geary/Armitage. The big risk there is that if we get an injury we'll be stuck with one too many talls for the rest of the game and I doubt Gards will be going at full pace by the last quarter.
As for who misses out, I've got no idea. Ray is surely safe, Polo's form has probably been too good for him to miss, Gram doesn't seem to be under any pressure despite several ordinary games, Geary has been decent and Armo was in excellent form before injury. Blake is playing very solid football but may not have a match up.
Of course there's always the chance that they'll just drop Gards for Armo.

I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.

If it were me I'd drop Gardiner for Armitage.
I'd have Gram as the sub.

Gotta say, I don't think Farren Ray has done a lot in recent weeks, if not all year. It's hard to remember the last time he played a really good game worth talking about. Maybe that game at the Gabba where he took all those strong marks, but that was months ago, before he got sick. Him being the sub last week may have been a sign that he's on the precipice. Maybe he ought to miss this week, for the stronger and more physical Armo and come back for the games on the bigger expanses of the 'G, if we progress, where his speed will be an asset.
YOU GET WHAT YOU SETTLE FOR.
Gardiner can't be dropped.
If he wasn't in Ross' finals plans, he would not have played on Saturday night. If he didn't play, I reckon we may have had a press conference announcing his retirement already.
On top of that, the time he spent on the field, I thought he was magnificent. He could be the X factor we are crying out for this finals series.

Now that would be courageous selecting.

Yep let's play 3 key forwards for the first time in 3 years in a final :sarcasm:borderbarry wrote:Any chance it will be Gardiner And Ray? IN Armo, and dare I say it, kept under wraps for the finals. the Irishman!

It will come down to matchups. I think with guys like Jetta and Rohan playing forward, we will still need Geary in the side.
Dawson still has a matchup if White plays, while Blake or Clarke could be a good match for O'Keefe if his shoulder comes up. They'll look to play a defensive forward on Fisher.
Before last weeks game, I didn't think we could go in with Kosi, Gardiner and McEvoy. I've changed my mind, Kosi must play, and we can only take one of Gardiner and McEvoy. If the selection panel don't think McEvoy can at least break even with Mumford, he must be dropped. I don't think that will happen though, I think Gardiner will miss.

Stark reminder, in the course of just half a game, of how much we've missed him.

In that half though we stank, either the set-up wasn't working or we weren't applying ourselves properly…Superboot wrote:+1HSVKing wrote:Gardiner can't be dropped.
