I hated the way Sydney played during 05 - 06.

And while I've liked playing finals and almost winning flags, our game style has been brutally hard to watch at times, even when we've been winning.

Thanks for the memories Ross, now F$$K off.

Here's to a new era.

Lyon inherited a much stronger group than he's left. Our stars are older, and our 'role players' are errrr....not much value, and we dont have young players comming through

This and at Freo he is getting a nice list too. Freo's injury run this year did Harvey no favours...it won't take much more than a change of luck to make Freo a bigger threat next year. Ross Lyon's win/loss will look good for a while yet...not like he is going to GWS or Port

I don't think things are that bad...

We still got a pretty good core that has a year or 2 left imo.

Look at the Cats... Ablett left, Bomber left.

Who knows what can happen...

Time to stick fat Sainters.

Agreed Leo, probably one of the more level headed posts on this board at the moment.

Embrace change people. We will now play attractive football.

Nah, we will now have a blend of the two.

Defence should be instinctive, attack will feel like fun.

we wil struggle to get 30,000 members next year unles we get a big name like Malthous to the club. Anyone bar Malthouse or Roos would see a very lean year memberhip an moneywise for the saints next year.

That's what I meant. For god's sake, i don't want all out attack like 2004-05, we all saw where that got us?

I just think it would be nice to move the ball forward to score some goals rather than try and preserve our lead.

Unsure about that. many have turned away due to our pathetically ugly game style. They will be back now

After getting over the shock of the news from a media statement emailed to me by the club (which did not include any of the gory details), I feel strangely excited about next year now. Disturbed by the apparent deceitfulness by RL, but other than that I wish him the best and it is time for us as a club to move on. Perhaps a few weeks extra notice might have been helpful, but we will get it right. We have a strong admin and board. They will steer the ship in the direction is is meant to go.

I may purchase an extra membership or 2 next year if club numbers drop off. The club has my support regardless. This is the time to weed out the real supporters from the band wagoners.......

Lyon is a very good coach however he has developed the most boring game plan imaginable.

I just think it would be nice to move the ball forward to score some goals rather than try and preserve our lead.
2 preliminary finals?

The defensive mindset has been drilled into this group. If we went all attack now, the defence wouldn't suddenly disappear. So we'd probably be more rounded than 2004-05.

yeah I know, that's what I think would happen if we did go all out attack - I just meant i didn't want to revert to old habits.

Lack of defence was the reason we COULDN'T win games back then.
