Comes from Sydney where he walked into a list and left when the going got tough too. Sydney was an artificial environment where administrators and coaches live free from media and fan scrutiny. Boards didn't ring the coach demanding kids be played because callers on SEN were going mental that day or the ferals on the fan sites where calling for a less defensive game plan. Imagine a board expecting to have a say over thing like recruiting, game style and list management. I wouldn't be able to stay either.

Suspect Lyin had confided in Roos what an incompetent Board and CEO the club had, and he had had enough, and was going to shaft them big time.

I think Lyon confided in Roos that his decision to leave St Kilda "wasn't his fault".
If you have followed his public utterances over the last 5 years, but whenever something went wrong, it wasn't Lyon's fault. If the match-ups didn't make sense, it was the match day committee's fault for selecting the wrong players. the team played badly, it was because the players didn't follow instructions. If Luke Ball didn't play the last two quarters of the GF and that looked silly in retrospect, it was the fault of the guy managing the bench. If Dempster and CJ are played out of position in an Elimination Final, it's becsuse "the coaching staff" (not "I") got it wrong.
I suspect that, when he was growin up in the family home in Reservoir, every time broke a toy his mum would say "bad toy", or if it was a chair she would say "bad chair" & etc.

That comment, as it stands, is no doubt intended to garner sympathy for his good mate Ross.
But without giving details it could mean anything.
For instance, Ross could have been involved with KD.
Or, Ross could have been caught with his hand in the till
Silly examples, however they all work with:
"I know exactly what's happened at St Kilda and there's no way known he could have continued at St Kilda."
Unless he clarifies his comment it means nothing to me.

"I know exactly what's happened at St Kilda and there's no way known he could have continued at St Kilda."
quote]
No way, huh? Even though he was negotiating with them right up until the last minute? Even though his management team was to led to believe he was going to stay?
Come to think of it, you're right. Your comment proves it. There's no way he could have continued at St Kilda.
Because he's a dog.

Ross did break his contract - he had a 3-month get out clause, not a 3-minute get out clause. Unless Ross is starting with Freo in mid December then I'd suggest that he has in fact broken his contract. Roos wants to be technical, but not too technical.
And he really should justify or clarify his unfair and unwarranted comments...

And Roos should either tell the whole story or say nothing about it at all.Munga wrote:"I know exactly what's happened at St Kilda and there's no way known he could have continued at St Kilda."
So why not tell us? Piss poor reporting not to ask follow up questions.
Clearly trying to help out his mate via innuendo.

The reporter - Steve Butler should have asked Roos for clarification of "what did happen," or not include the quote. Because the quote sounded "meaty" it was included in the article to grab readers attention."I know exactly what's happened at St Kilda and there's no way known he could have continued at St Kilda."
A very poor effort there Steve!
This gets more interesting by the day.
I received some volatile information last night from a usually impeccable source connected to a few AFL clubs, including St Kilda for a period of time. He has been on the money many times.
Did Ross lose his money on the share market? I'm not willing to bet my life on it.
