VERY Interesting quote by Mick
""In fairness to everyone at the football club, I think they need a fresh start.
And I can't give them that fresh start from my position in that role."

"I think those that are at the football club need a bit of space to go in the direction that they feel is going to take the club forward."

If is possible he might be considering going for senior coach with us ??? the whole needing a FRESH START???

Not a chance, DSG.

We'll be a lot better off not having him.

WE need a fresh start as well 8-)

Id certainly be talking to him.

Have to agree with his decision to walk - Maguires "succession' dream was a farce from day 1.

I have been in support for Gary Ayres for a while now, but a lot of people don't want him, like others don't want Mick.......

Right now I will accept who ever the club picks and hope its the right choice in the end...

He's the best available coach.

Our group has 2 years max to win a flag.

His presence would push membership & sponsorship through the roof. I hate the bloke but he's the best available...IMO.

IF hes said he sees no value in a director of coaching role at Pies.....I suspect he sees no value in that anywhere??

Get the feel he's a "Im in charge or not at all"....type guy.

I don't really want him either to be honest.

I was sort of in two minds about it but I realised something today.

The pies players were just too overawed about the occasion today, they played very poorly in the first three quarters. Not taking anything away from geelong they deserved the win but Collingwood was very flat and (perhaps) tired too.

I just think Mick needs to go out gracefully.

Coaching St Kilda is not the way to do that.

Bring on Scott Watters though!

+1

what has the guy actually achieved. in 91,92,94 he was given the best of wa to achieved a premiership. it was a matter of when not if.

in 2002,2003 he was out coached and didnt quite have the cattle to get there, even though he had the $$$ behind him

in 2010,2011 he had the $$$ behind him again, he had the support staff around him. the club got him the players. the club developed them and he still couldnt get anywhere. he then stole max and ball and our game plan and was head and sholders above us in 2010. the problem is when you steal someones idea, you're not as smart as them and cant counteract their next move. even though he was so far ahead he almost lost GF1 from being out coached. lyon dropped the extra ruckman, used the 3rd man up to clear the stoppage, he put gilbert forward on maxwell to counteract the spare man in defence, and then he put ray/hayes on swan and let goddard go lose.

the reality is we dont have the $$$ to make a better than average coach in mick successfull. we need a talented young coach to take us fwd, to make up for our lack of $$$$

It still annoys me that our useful lameduck incompetent board rolled-over on the Malthouse issue.

He publicly defamed one of our players.
Then lied about it.
Was fined.
But never apologised.

We should have supported Milney in taking legal action against this lying hypocrite.
But our brave board backed away as usual.
Just like they let the "schoolgirl" walk all over them.
