Who do we now delist?

Post: # 1165082Post borderbarry »

Now that Trade Week has been and gone, are we still going to have to make room in our salary cap? If so, we may have to delist some on reasonable salaries.

Off the top of my head.

I'd be worried if I was Smith, Polo, Gamble, Heyne (even though he is contracted I believe)

You'd think Cahill gets another chance now Lynch and Walsh have gone?

The Blake, Raph, Heyne, Gamble and Smith would be having sleepless nights.
Cahill might just hang on because Walsh left.

I think one of the senior guys will have to make way…

Clarke, Ray, Peake or Dawson

Gram is contracted, so no chance,

Gamble and Polo would have to settle for close to minimum wage if they had any hope

Smith, Archer, Cahill, Johnson & Heyne wouldn't be guaranteed anything at this stage

I think Gamble and Polo, then maybe Smith & Archer.

Does anyone know when the cut-off point for delistings is?

Heyne, Gamble, Archer, Raph

Polo, Smith and Johnson also should be worried.

I think Archer is required now with all these big bodies going.

If we delist a contracted player the payout is still included in the salary cap, so I'm guessing only those yet to sign will be in danger of being cut.

A tall dud, is still a dud, we may take another mature ruckman as a rookie… McCauley?

archer can be rookied anyway so he should be ok.
but youd think gamble and raph would be very concerned.
we have a stack of half back flankers - and with siposs and the two new lads gamble is really not in the mix.

Didn't Dawson and Ray re-sign today?

I don't see how we are going to get salary cap relief by delisting 20-year olds.

More like 25-year olds. Which is why Dawson and Ray are in a Mexican stand-off.

Their decisions will no doubt affect the club's decisions elsewhere with the list.

Gamble and Polo would be on minimum wage.

Don't think so, they were offered (much) less than they are asking for…
I reckon Dawson might walk to Freo in the draft.

This where it came from...is it confirmed? Sounds like no.

Yeah, but he has been very ordinary since.

No point in delisting him since he is still contracted, but I'm a little disappointed he wasn't traded.

Start with the ordinary players who have had opportunity at AFL level - Geary, Gamble, Heyne (only a couple of games but at that 187cm mid-fielder build that is easy to replace), Blake and Polo.

Unfortunately there is no real option on the list for Dawson - unless Watters can identify someone.

Along with Baker, McQualter, Lynch and Eddy that gets rid of 9/10 of our "role players" who have held us back in recent seasons.

Can Watters do a Gehrig and talk Gardiner into one final season?

We really have to push for "pace" and flexibility" - and that puts the likes of one dimensional players such as Schneider and Milne under pressure to deliver across those disciplines when the side next takes the field.

Milne would be under immense pressure being the best AA small forward???
Let me guess Cahill stays?

Of course he does. He isnt a one position player. He sometimes plays in the Sandy one and sometimes in the Sandy two's. This guy cant help himself about Milne.
