The second elephant in the room.

Post: # 1176769Post GrumpyOne »

The question no-ones been game to ask so far:

If I donate to the running of the site, what is in it for me?

Some form of recognition?

Posting Status?

Cap?

Badge?

A say in SS Admin?

Or just a warm fuzzy feeling that I've contributed to someone else's plaything?

Lance or James??

There comes a point in every man's life when he has to say, "Enough is enough." For me, that time is now. I have been dealing with claims that I cheated and had an unfair advantage in <redacted>. Over the past three years, I have been subjected to a <redacted>investigation followed by <redacted> witch hunt. The toll this has taken on my family, and my work for <redacted>and on me leads me to where I am today – finished with this nonsense. (Oops just got a spontaneous errection <unredacted>)

Being serious for a moment, you get a site that works. That's what we all want isn't it?

Not quite HSV..... I get a promise of a site that works. And I'm required to put faith in the person that lumbered us with this dog of a server.

And despite some apparently expert advice that we need to upgrade from a $30 plan, we are still persisting in going with the $30 plan.

Not convinced.

Hardly fair to bash him now that it has had down time of late. At first, this server was a huge improvement on the previous one which claimed the entire site and had to be started all over again.

I don't subscribe to the whole theory of 'spend more and get a better product'. I'd hate to think that everyone votes for the more expensive one, and then we end up with twice the problems as before. Great waste of money that would be.

A reliable host for the site where you spend much of your day?

I see your reply above to HSV, but seriously, we can't promise anything - we can only do our best.

If there's left over money, I plan to use it to send my child to an Ivy League school in the US.

It's not just the downtime, all the double posts and inability to post at times that is the bigger issue.

GrumpyOne, it's obvious this is not about the server

You've had a beef with the administrators and moderators of this site for years - if we decided to pick a $60 package you would be the first person to jump on here and demand an explanation as to why we are churning through donated funds when a $30 package might suffice

Also, I didn't "lumber us with this server" - I've stated it a number of times; this is the same company that was hosting the site when I took over from saintsational. While they've never been great they have been, until this year, adequate and the serious problems didn't start until we had already signed up for this year. But I think you already knew that

You are just trying to create an argument.

Some things never change. You should probably request a membership to GazArat's little forum away from this forum about the forum to discuss forum issues because they cannot be discussed on this forum because discussing them on this forum would be plain odd considering this place is a forum.

i didnt see it that way
(grumps having a beef with admin)
i thought he was just asking what he got for his donation
what the site will be like, waht it can do, where we are going??

pretty much like what others have asked

whoever came up with the bigfooty type idea i thought was good
is that an option or has what we are going with already been decided?
