it is Cloke's 150th game this weekend

you wouldn;t think he would go back on his stance of last week within 7 days

He has a press conference for his 150th game?

If he does....all I see left is Goddard.

The funny thing is Goddard overall hasn't achieved what he should have as a saint. He could be the best player in the comp and he just keeps not quite getting there. Not saying he isn't great but he is demonstrative, sulky, crumbles when one on one or tagged and racks masses of possies when played as a spare man. He wouldn't fit well at a young club.

I wouldve thought that as the talent pool GWS can chase lessons...greater intensity comes on those left...thats if Goddard is in their sights...age might frighten them a bit..

agree !
BJ is agreat player however , he's not the best midfielder in the comp , nor the best key position player . he is 27 in may , so i don't know why gws would be after him ,as when their kids are ready for the finals , he'll be finished .
he's not worth any more than what the saints pay him , although i hope he proves me wrong and has a outstanding 2012 helping the saints win the flag.

Yeah I think Rooey proved what happens when you over commit on a contract. Hammy and a follow up poor season and thats an estimated $1.8 million for not much return, just glad it wasn't one of these 5 year jobs. Pressure transfers in that the media will speculate until his pen hits paper.

Probably only increases pressure on Goddard, because it will narrow the focus of the media. Most of the talk will now be BJ and Cloke, which isn't ideal.

I'm thinking he's tossing up between 2 yrs at the Saints when he wants min 3, or 4 at GWS.

The thing that Goddard will be most remembered for is that mark. He has the potential to become our next Barry Breen if he stays loyal.

No extra pressure if he is staying, but will be extra pressure through the year if he is thinking about going to GWS.

As long as the extra pressure doesn't alter his output this year. And as long as we don't loose McEvoy!

I still can't see why GWS would go for a guy that turns 28 next year when they have showed that they are only interested in 21 year olds and a few cheapo 30+ year old club rejects to help out for a year or two. No way IMO will they pay big bucks for a 28 year old.

i wish i could be as convinced as you sound. he could easily play four good years up there, maybe more. given their quality list, they could easily be playing finals in the last couple of those. a superstar like bj could just take them from seventh to second - and who knows where from there...

Goddard should stay.

Bird in hand at 27, I say.

I reckon we are going to turn out just like the Pies of 2002 and 2003. The debt and burden of 2009 and 2010 will drag on for a while me thinks. If trading Goddard brings a good return for both parties then I'm all for it.

Or the Geelong of the 90s for that matter.

Yes. Maybe you're right.

But trying to slot myself in BJ's shoes as best I can I can't really make an adequate case for departing.

He's going to be well paid wherever he goes.
