TOMMY LEDGER !!
I reckon that after his cameo today he deserves his own thread. I thought he had a real impact as the sub (14 touches in a quarter and a half) !!
NEW scarf signature (hopefully with correct spelling) will be here as soon as it arrives !!
Re: TOMMY LEDGER !!
I have him down for 8 touches..... Not quite the 2 that Ray had last week but he did impact......cracks in low...

Re: TOMMY LEDGER !!
The kid is a gun. Makes me sick he was left out last week and started as a sub this week. No idea why, but his contested possessions, hard running and true grit puts some of our senior talent (ahem Joey) to shame.
AwayInUSA no longer ... have based myself back in Melbourne for a decade of Saintsational Success (with regular trips back to the USA)

Re: TOMMY LEDGER !!
It is at a different level, and he needs to build his strength which will come with age. But he has the requisite skills and pace. With confidence, I am sure the left foot will come into play too. If he wasn't injured last week, I can't understand the decision to not play him.

Re: TOMMY LEDGER !!
ldge should definitely be in next week as sub again.
coach loves polo so not sure who will miss out.
maybe simpko even though he seems very unlucky.
(and joey needs to pull his finger out - got 26 cheapies today).

why are we subbing Ledger and not playing him?
Cripps is a better sub. Ledger has to play.

Re: TOMMY LEDGER !!
on tonight would prefer ledger over cripps.
thought cripps the only disappointment out of the young ones.
But concur with giving all tonight more time.

Re: TOMMY LEDGER !!
Agree, I would def be playing Ledger ahead of Cripps ATM. I was a bit surprised at the wraps some were giving Cripps in the preseason games, as I thought he was just OK in them and not as good as Ledger or Siposs. He does seem to look better when he's playing mid or forward at this stage, though.
Love the way Ledger goes about it. Head first, tough as nails, good speed and pretty good and long kick on both sides. Hope to see him play the whole game next week.

Yep. Loved the intensity of Ledger when he came on, which we will need against the Dogs.

I think the sub suits the young guys as their fitness isn't up as high as the seniors. Cripps was an incredible sub last year both will be good players and Cripps will be getting better each game. Im not unhappy for either to be in the team.

Re: TOMMY LEDGER !!
Defies logic really, he was in our best couple of mids all pre-season, didn't even get a game last week, started sub this week. Has to start next week ahead of cripps, newnes and polo.Teflon wrote:why are we subbing Ledger and not playing him?

Re: TOMMY LEDGER !!
Probably due to not playing last week maybe its precautionary making him the sub. Bit like Rodan last week. I assume he'll be in the start21 next week

Re: TOMMY LEDGER !!
I just love the energy of all the kids... They're just jumping out of their skin to keep getting games in the seniors.
Re: TOMMY LEDGER !!
Will be a 20 plus possession player once he gets a few full games under his belt IMO.
If we can unearth three young talents this year than we've done exceptionally good. Last year it was McEvoy and Steven, this year Ledger, Milera and Stanley hopefully.
I think Sippos and Cripps are still a year away. Ledger looks ready to explode now.

Re: TOMMY LEDGER !!
Thought Cripps played well actually.
Remember, he was basically playing across half back and was accountable for his opponent who was little sighted.
Had some time forward putting defensive pressure on and when released into the centre, carried the ball out and potted the goal.
The benefit with Cripps and Ledger is that Cripps can play forward or back - and can take his turn on the ball.
Ledger can play forward and can also take his turn on the ball (the clearance ease from Smith's ruck work and our inability to tackle and keep arms down was troubling and Ledger negated this in the last quarter with his positioning and attack on the ball).
Just my view (again) but Ledger contributed far more to the team performance than did the player subbed off.
The player subbed off relies on being spoon fed and can not contribute as Ledger did on ball.
Plus we saw how easily No 5 ran off without even being chased, creating havoc up field thru the lines.
Comprehensively out-classed Milne - and it is the second week in a row he has been out-classed.
The warning bell?

We know how much you love Milney, but 2.2 in a half is probably not the warning bells you are thinking of.To the top wrote:Thought Cripps played well actually.

If anything he missed 2 easy set-shots, would have gone on to kick 4 easily…
Ledger was great, but don't think they are competing for a spot.
Re: TOMMY LEDGER !!
Milne is pretty dangerous, having a warning bell for the opposition is a bit extreme though
