Fraser Riewoldt

Post: # 1235462Post saintkev »

Has anyone else noticed how Riewoldt has modelled his playing style on Gehrig's? He spends a lot of the time trying to out-muscle his opponent. The problem is he doesn't have the strength to match it with 2 or 3 opposition players (let alone one). He used to be brilliant on the lead and flying over the top of packs. Putting the ball high to a stationary Riewoldt is a defender's dream. He needs to rejuvenate his career by going to defence where he becomes the spoiler and play creator.

I get what you mean, but its not like roo has been quiet this year...

He has been fantastic this year, so whatever his new approach is, he should stick with it.

He has had one quiet game, which was mainly caused because it was 2011 'kick it to roo' mentality...

Our poor kicking let roo down on the weekend , the way it was bombed in gives his opponants the advantage . most times when this happens , his direct opponent was watching him and blocking cos he knew he had one or two others watching the flight of the ball .

With Nick and Justin better suited to half forward- yeah, full forward Fraser Gehrig's departure left a big hole in our structure which was hard to fill. .

I've said this before - I'm one who wishes NR was tried in the ruck! Especially needed this year. He runs so much as a forward. Has always looked the goods for a mid field role imo. A bit like a Paul Salmon type role, forward and ruck.

Could Roo and Kosi rotate these roles? Does Kosi's lack of peripheral vision mean he's better suited to full forward- full time?

We need to look around Roo and Kosi....

For god sake we have been looking for roles for Kosi for ten years now. If he isn't 100% fit ever again,he shouldn't play,he's a liability if he isnt fit...which is most of the time. Only for this ridiculous contract he's on he should be delisted at years end. Let's be brutal here,Kosi is a list clogger going into next year

As for Roo,best is well and truly behind him. No point trying to reinvent him for the rest of his career......play him inside 50 as a bit part forward where he will be an excellent 2-3 goal player for a couple more years.... he is not a superstar anymore, need to get over that. Build elsewhere now,it's time to move on,and move forward!
