Gram - Credit where it is due

Post: # 1237797Post Ross who? »

I want to put my hand up and say that I am NOT a fan of Jason Gram. I do think he is soft. I do think he makes poor decisions. I also think he has poor disposal at times.

HOWEVER.......Gram was very good against Essendon. I am happy to admit it.

His run through the middle and long kicks in to our forward 50 were very beneficial to the team. He even kicked a goal from outside 50 (Just!) I didn't see him squib one contest. It is this type of play that almost won him a Norm Smith medal and made us a damaging and attacking team during our record winning streak.

JASON, THIS IS THE BENCHMARK FOR THE REST OF YOUR CAREER.

Not the best game he's played in 2012

Better against GC, Rich, Haw, Carl

A 6/10 game

You will not win a flag with 22 reliable support players.

You need players like Gram.

Cops more stick than he deserves. Though if he could improve some 1%ers on a week in week out basis would be amongst our best players.

if we make the finals and give them a shake this year you will probably find that Gram has had a good run of form.

No implying that he would be the main reason....but if we can get him on song it adds a lot to our side, and more so with players like Saad in the team.

Is just a shame that Stanley is out at present as we are building a nice pool of pace at the Saints with pace now on most lines. Gram is part of that.

He is also part of potentially a very good midfield rotation now that Steven and Armo have stepped up.

Hayes, Dal, Joey, Jones, Armo, Steven, Gram, Schneider....... that is the type of midfield depth you need to take on the Pies.

Gram cops stick because he deserves it.

Games like the Essendon one just prove it. They prove his worth.

I still reckon he is the laziest player on our list and probably the most frustrating.

He did have a good game though.

Agreed red

Played ok against Bombers but dont tell anyone on here he deserves a rocket on a lot of occasions .....even when the coach singles himout for deserving it!

He chooses when to go for mine and Im not a wrap for that but if he brings his A game weekly then he hangs on...needs the A game to be keeping youth out beyond this season IMO cause he aint part of the next premiership tilt for mine and some where in this side space at some point will need to be made for kids.

Hayes - Swans (nearly..)
Milne - Bombers
gram - Lions

Don Pyke was on the fringes, an outside receiver at Claremont and West Coast, much as Gram is at the Saints. A bloke called Malthouse installed some grunt into him and he became hard at the ball and tackling and an outstanding premiership player. Gram has the skill. He just doesn't possess the hard as nails attitude, but like Pyke, he can acquire it.
