Rich: will he get weeks
For the piss weak act when he shoved Jones into the fence.
Could have caused serious injury and was as reckless and you would want to see.
I say he gets 2

I think that's why Clinton had to go off with the blood rule, was cut under his arm.

Re: Rich: will he get weeks
There is actually a misconduct charge for this, called the "Lenny Rule" (the player got off). Maybe some will recall it. Because of that, he will get an extra 4 weeks. Pathetic effort from Rich, matched only by the deliberate kneeing by Merrett, who should also get 4 under the misconduct guidelines.

Re: Rich: will he get weeks
That was when Brad Scott threw Lenny into the fence and broke his wrist. I think the ONLY outcome from that was that the AFL ordered the Gabba to remove that bit of fence !!perfectionist wrote:There is actually a misconduct charge for this, called the "Lenny Rule" (the player got off). All incidents that are highlighted on TV are brought to the attention of the MRP by the AFL's video-tape guy. It will be looked at !!mr six o'clock wrote:Just watched the highlightHurricane wrote:For the piss weak act when he shoved Jones into the fence.

Re: Rich: will he get weeks
You're having a lend, but don't just discount the impact that TV has on the masses. The AFL wants to be seen to be doing something regarding dangerous behaviour or rough conduct and the perception is just as important to the AFL as the actual penalties handed out.
Anyway, it's not all 'TV'....it's mainly the incidents that are highlighted on 'free to air' TV. Our game was on Fox Footy. If the Sunday footy shows give it a good run different story.

It's part of the TV rights deal. If they mention it they are obliged to hand over all footage of the incident.Scollop wrote:You're having a lend, but don't just discount the impact that TV has on the masses. Back the original topic. 1,2 or 3 Weeks, reprimand or let off. It all comes down to the formula of what boxes are ticked. Does anyone know the formula? !!

Reckless, medium impact, body contact.
5 activation points. I think that's about 1 week?

Re: Rich: will he get weeks
AFL seems to ignore anything to do with boundary. Will this open them up to litigation? Loss of income if someone loses match payments due to an injury from hitting a fence? I worked in insurance, you should see how insurance companies try to wriggle out of paying anything.

I hope they each get 2 weeks and then return to knock off Richmond and Carlton in rounds 19 and 20. Might need them yet.
Midfield clearances and clear winners are needed to make an effective forward line.

Rich will get nil, Merrett should get 1-2. Not sure on his history.
I didnt think the Rich v Jones was that bad. Nothing like the Lenny incident years ago.

Re: Rich: will he get weeks
Interesting reading the breakdown of this and the merret one : the latter classed merely as reckless while Richs was intentional. The thug merret should've gotten two weeks. As deliberate a knee in the back as you'll ever see.
I won't be able to yell abuse at him at Metricon this week...lol

To be intentional it has to be his sole objective to cannon into his back. He did cannon into his back but they would be saying he was going for the spoil initially but decided late to hurt Rooy. I reckon a week each would have been fair enough. We complained about North's medical staff giving information to MRP that got BJ charged with medium impact. Our club obviously did the same even though both looked pretty fine straight after the incidents especially CJ. At least Rooy went off for a couple of minutes.
Re: Rich: will he get weeks
penalties about right...in both cases....
.everybody still loves lenny....and we always will

I'm surprised by Rich getting 2.
Would have thought Merrett's was more intentional than Rich, but to be honest, the tribunal confuses me these days.

Re: Rich: will he get weeks
Yeah true. Like a few other posters I have a bit of time for Rich and it seemed out of char for him. I think he didn't realize the momentum of CJ would carry him that far but it was still negligent.plugger66 wrote:stevie wrote:Interesting reading the breakdown of this and the merret one : the latter classed merely as reckless while Richs was intentional. I dunno about Merrett though - he just seemed to go straight into Roo's back for he hell of it.
Re: Rich: will he get weeks
So let me get this straight. Rich gets 2 weeks for throwing a bloke into the fence. In my local team, we just lost a bloke for the season who snapped both bones in his forearm after being slung into the fence. And the bloke gets two weeks.
And people are wanting 8 weeks for a tug on a shoulder? WTF is going on? This AFL is becoming unrecognisable to me!! What duty of care did Rich have? Plenty. Jones could've had head or body injuries. Two weeks!!! What a flipping joke!

Re: Rich: will he get weeks
Judd should only get a max of about two IMO.
It should be about penalising the 'look' of it to avoid this behaviour being acceptable to the kids, the INTENT should be punished.
