A good and bad read?

As a supporter so hard to move on

Winning the big dance WILL kill the bad memories...the pain of not getting there

but you need to have the attitude in the article (to get another GF) for it to happen.

Jeez, he talks a good game! But unfortunately every club sounds the same at this time of year.

For me to start to believe, they're going to have to deliver on field in the first five rounds. I reckon the same is true of the players. If we have a couple of bad losses early, like we did in 2012, then all that "self-belief" stuff will rapidly go out the window. On the other hand, if we spifflicate the Suns, get over the Tiges and J Riewoldt, shellack GWS and beat BJ's Bombers then the NZ game against the reigning premiers could be the one that puts the players over the top.

I reckon we'll lose to the Tiges and Dons, and we're a chance of losing to an expansion club. Going to NZ 2-2 or 1-3 means the season is over for exactly the self-belief reasons Joey says. But I can't help but hope...

he has certainly changed even if it is just maturing...

for me this is the important piece as far as knowing these guys are playing for 'the club' and not jsut for the glory or self
Montagna acknowledges the young blokes don't know the pain and nor they should.

"You think of the an analogy," he said. "We've got through that valley, and we've come up the the other side or the haze or the trough ... we are through it and the club is in great shape.

"We may not get there again, and it may happen in three years' time when we are all gone.

"But we are going to leave a legacy of what it's like to be hungry and maniacal and have self-belief and it's guys like Jack Newnes who might prosper from it.

"That's how we want to leave the game

It's a 2 page spread in the herald sun that is actually positive. After the last couple of off seasons we ll take it. Plus Goddard didn't get a mention which is refreshing .

Joey isn't as dumb as the average footballer. He is actually getting to be a pretty decent media performer. I agree with what he is saying - leaving a strong level of expectation is vital so that we don't end up with a culture of half arsed trainers and party boys like the Dees. Newnes will be a beauty by the way- he just seems to have the composure of a guy much older. The tigers got stuck into him and he stood firm despite a huge size discrepancy. I think you will find Joey is saying that if they don't challenge the legacy will be for them to leave the kids with the knowledge of what it takes to get there.

Who are these Dees party boys you speak of?

That's coz Robbo runs the Hun now not Noddy.

He's a respectable journo that looks at all sides of a story.

A class act.

Bring on AFL360!

Agreed. Sure beats, "St.Kilda schoolgirl scandal", "player alcohol, sleeping tablet shame", etc. etc.......

Don't think noddy was behind much of that...

Pretty sure class & Mark Robinson have never met. Ralph should have got the chief gig, but probably not boganey enough for the HS faithful.

Are you serious about Jon Ralph. I listen to him every week on SEN. He talks more crap than any other media person I have heard. he changes his mind mid sentence and he blows the most minor things up. He does speak well but never says anything of substance. Each to our own though. I like Robbo and I know he loves footy. Even had time to coach North Old Boys Seconds when being a footy reporter which is very tough considering when games are played. And you are right. Dont think Sheahan had much to say on the school girl issue. But then again I like most reporters and the ones I dont like like Andrew Bolt well I dont read.

Though Mark was the first to run with that story...

He seems to have worked hard at having a good relationship with the Saints though, seems to have a soft spot...perhaps because he realises a lot of the grief they went through was unneccessary.

I doubt they give a stuff to be honest. And was he first anyway?
