Dissapointed we were out tackled and my changes to the side
The most disappointing thing about last night’s game for me was that we were out tackled by a young side.
We laid 49 tackles for the game!!
Players who laid just 1 tackle
Jones- Easy player to make a scapegoat but 14 contested possessions at least showed some effort.
Milne- 1 goal and 3 behinds is below par at best, I’m a Milne fan and often defend him but I expect better from him.
Hickey- 57% time on ground; thought he was okay but can't afford to carry a bench ruckmen
Gwilt- 21 touches including 6 rebound 50s was an ok game.
Roberton- 18 touches at 77% DE, I’d expected more physicality from him. If he survives the chop this week he’d want to be better.
Siposs- 19 touches and a goal 85% DE, never going to be your physical tackling machine and had an ok game.
Players who laid no tackles
Newnes- 12 touches with nothing to excuse his performance. Not ready.
McEvoy- 23 HO, 12 contested possessions and 93% tog. Worked hard all day but didn’t have a great game.
Riewoldt- 9 Marks, 2 goals and 2 behinds. Poor return by his standards.
Stanley- 14 marks and 7 spoils, won’t ever be a big tackling player but was good in defence for mine.
Saad- 0 goals and 2 behinds with nothing to excuse his performance. Needs a rocket.
Dennis-Lane- 25% Time on ground earns him a pass.
Who I’d look at dropping
Newnes: Simply not ready for AFL football
Saad: Probably keep him in this week but would put him on notice.
Hickey: Injury probably didn’t help him but I’d prefer Kosi as he doesn’t have to spend as much time on the bench.
Roberton: I’d give him another week; his game wasn’t horrible, needs to be told we expect him to provide more inside the contests
Dennis-Lane: I only see one of Saad or Dennis-Lane in the side next week. Saad gets the nod for mine.
James’ Changes
Out: Newnes, Hickey, Dennis-Lane and Blake (For Fisher if fit)
In: Montagna, Kosi, Dempster (if fit- if not then Schneider who would be sub) and Fisher (if fit)

1 small and 3 talls in
So you would make a too tall team even taller for another outdoors night game?

Dempster is hardly a tall.
Re: Dissapointed we were out tackled and my changes to the s
Players I'd put in straight away are Fisher, Dempster, Montagna and Schneider.

Fair review Jr.
I think Joey comes straight in .
Id play Schneider for sure. But get him fitter so he can at least play some time in the midfield.
If fit Fisher simpkin and Dempster all in for their bigger harder bodies.

Old enough to repaint, but young enough to sell

Doubt it more likely .TDL Blake Milera Jones forget the 3 goals Milera kicked won't tackle cost him his spot last year.
In hopefully Fisher Montagna Schneider Wright think Dempster another week.

Oh thats ok then. I thought he was the same height as Fisher and Simpkin. My mistake.Stephen Theodore wrote:saintsRrising wrote:He certainly is not a small....james rose wrote:

Using that logic Blake is 2cm taller than Hayes and a midfielder.saintsRrising wrote:Oh thats ok then. I thought he was the same height as Fisher and Simpkin. My mistake.Stephen Theodore wrote:saintsRrising wrote:

Here is a line from the official bio.
A skillful defender capable of playing on small and tall forwards

I thought Roberton was fine, shouldn't be dropped.
Gehrig emerged from scans yesterday saying he was "as sweet as a bun"

You are confusing height with position. And yes Harvey once played on Jimmy Stynes in the ruck and towelled him up.james rose wrote:

However my point was that you were suggesting making an already tall team taller.
Game is at the G at night.
You may think this is a good thing. I do not share your opinion.
If Schneider and Joey were both available I would bring both in and leave a tall out. I would be going smaller and not taller.
I would leave out a ruckman. At this stage Hickey.
Hopefully Fisher can replace Blake.

I agree. Would seem strange if they dropped him. He seems to have some good footy smarts and some agility in him.Munga wrote:I thought Roberton was fine, shouldn't be dropped.

Okay if we are forgetting height lets look at each change
Out: Newnes
In: Montagna
Explanation: Newnes small body not up to AFL football yet, bring in a hard bodied small in his place.
Out: Hickey
In: Kosi
Explanation: Hickey hurt us by having to spend too much time on the bench, Bring Kosi in who can push Maister out to a third tall forward and crash packs for our crumbers.
Out: Dennis-Lane
In: Dempster (if fit- if not then Schneider who would be sub)
Explanation: Dennis-Lane a mid sized player, Dempster is one of higher quality.
Out: Blake (For Fisher if fit)
In: Fisher (if fit)
Explanation: Thought Blake was okay but Fisher an automatic inclusion and we can't go too tall
Overall team change.
*Kosi goes forward (pinch hitting in the ruck) with Maister becoming a third tall. I personally think our forward line needs 3 talls and we were too short up there last week.
*Montagna provides an extra midfielder
*Dempster to play as a medium/small defender
*Fisher to be Fisher.
Broken down like that does the height of the team really concern you?
What would your changes to the team be?

Re: Dissapointed we were out tackled and my changes to the s
well the side will need a shuffle
newnes for joey is a semi back for a mid
tdl out for demps is a forward for a defender
kozi and hickey and blake and fisher is like for like
so no schneider (who is the only one who has played some reserves???)
demps and chips might not be up to it this week?
if either of those two dont get up and i have a feeling one wont (lets hope thats a wrong call) then simpkin will come in.
lets see how they train today
i would expect a decent training session today...after getting belted by soggy toast

Schneider over one of Milera or Saad. He is a proven player.

You'd seriously keep TDL when he did nothing in a whole quarter with fresh legs when you've still got Milne and Saad in the side?QuestionOfAccuracy wrote:In: Montagna, Fisher, Dempster

Re: Dissapointed we were out tackled and my changes to the s
If schneider comes in i'd say at least two of milne, tdl, milera and saad need to go. seriously how many small forwards/flankers do we need? Five is overkill.

Why are so many drongos picking Milera to be dropped and leave Saad who had a shocker, in the team? Where would we have been if Milera had not of played? 3 further goals down.

Re: Dissapointed we were out tackled and my changes to the s
I didn't see Robertson miss a target and looks like a really composed guy I don't know what the disposal efficiency is measured on because he is very clean.
