Terry Milera
I know he's one of several of our new whipping boys now but I just have to give him a pump up. He went back to the VFL and while over shadowed by White he did every thing you would expect of a guy who wants a senior recall. He was an outstanding SANFL player and seems to have handled the transition pretty well. Remembering he's play about the same or less AFL games than Siposs.
He's a bit older than the kids but still developing his game while he is recognised only as a small forward, he is given more licence to roam than the others and is often back and running along side the ball coming back in. He's got a great work rate and will get better as the AFL program kicks in.
i think he will end up being a gun for us long term and a really great story when he could have wasted away playing SANFl, he went off and learnt what was needed to succeed and is a great role model for young indigenous males who often struggle for good ones. He's a dad and a shy and sensible bloke. Proud he's running in our colours and hope he stays - plenty seem to think he wants out. Hope not.
How do others rate him so far? He seems to be a pretty popular one to bag.

Re: Terry Milera
It will be interesting to see if The Virus comes back in after his bag of goals.
I hope so as he is the future.
I suspect Watters will bring him back ahead of Milne whom Watters was clearly annoyed with (and is out of form).

Re: Terry Milera
How many tackles did he lay? I'm pretty sure he was dropped for his lack of commitment to keeping the ball in the forward area.

Re: Terry Milera
Watched the replay a couple of times now.
He did some really good stuff, but hooly dooly he had bugger all...BUGGER ALL opposition.
They just let him off the chain.

He dominated in the first half when Werribee were in front and scores were basically level... How is that no opposition.

He kicked 6 goals...
But you obviously know how many tackles he made with this type of comment, so how many did he lay?

I have no idea how many tackles he had, hence the question?

Re: Terry Milera
I get the distinct impression that SW wants him to be more a rotating mid/HFF rather than a small forward. I think as a result he's being pushed to work harder, get to more contests etc and is a lot more fatigued in this role resulting in efforts that outsiders interpret as lazy.
Reckon as his fitness improves, he will get a lot better

Re: Terry Milera
Gun at state level but can't put it together in the AFL. Very prone to clangers and missed shots at goal for someone who gets picked for his skill. Can't stick a tackle or win the contested ball and is poor overhead Might play 50 games but i don't think he'll ever be a very good AFL player. Age is no excuse as he's already 25
Re: Terry Milera
needs to get bigger and work harder without the footy. His tackling pressure on big bodied AFL players is near pathetic if not non existent.........SW needs to be strategic in who he plays Terry against, to be honest he doesn't deserve a game this week after the Essendon debacle. He was great against Werribe but they are not Collingwood....he should be picked against the blues though.

Re: Terry Milera
Has great potential...but needs to lift his workrate and be a lot more disciplined.
Tends to avoid tackling as well, favouring open space rather than running straight at ball carriers.
If he can round out his game he could be a good player for us as he oozes class and talent, but these attributes are not enough at the highest level.

Flying the World in comfort thanks to FF Points....
Re: Terry Milera
He was excellent in the VFL, however I think it is just his defensive pressure that stops him being a good AFL player...
He just seems to run along side his player, rather than applying any real pressure.... he did this a couple of times in the weribee game, and i think that will keep him out of senior selection...
It is interesting that he and Saad together make a complete AFL player, saad has the intensity and defensive pressure, and terry has the class and insticts....
its a pity we cant just fuse them into one... damn you science!

Re: Terry Milera
He oozes class and is definitely AFL level without a shadow of a doubt...
He is your classic half forward winger, slightly built and extremely quick (we need pace).
Unfortunately, i believe he got dropped for being selfish and not doing the 'team thing' which was very glaring in a few games this year...
This would be due to how skillful he is, as in most comps he could just rely on his pace and skill and be the impact player.
He needs to create more pressure in the forward line also.
Overall i think he could be a gun tbh he just needs to work in his faults.

I agree with all of that. I reckon TM has a lot of improvement in him.skeptic wrote:I get the distinct impression that SW wants him to be more a rotating mid/HFF rather than a small forward. Re: Terry Milera
The guy is dripping with skill and peripheral awareness. The makings of a gun are there.
What is dead may never die, but rises again harder and stronger.
Re: Terry Milera
I hope he holds his spot.
Purely because he isn't one dimensional and can run through the midfield.
He might frustrate and confuse our coaching box at times, but I reckon he does it to the opposition coaches box as well which is a good thing. Unpredictable is Tez.

Re: Terry Milera
I know he's older, but he's only played about 20 games - constantly in and out of the team. Many players don't seem to get going until they reach the 50 game mark, e.g. Gwilt, Armitage.
I hope he makes it, we need some flair in the team - otherwise we're too one dimensional.

Re: Terry Milera
Just needs to fast track his thoughts and movements when he moves up to the AFL... Has all the attributes, and is far too good for the lower level... He needs to remember every time he gets it in the AFL that everything is faster and hits harder, and he needs to step up to that level... Urgency required..
I'm a big fan and think he should most definitely be given a go this week ahead of TDL (who I hope never plays again), and for mine he is also ahead of Saad who is in terrible form..
