Should we recruit Ian Robson to the board?
This guy is apparently the best in the business and it sounds like his time in the wilderness will be short.
Would he be a handy addition to our board?

Re: Should we recruit Ian Robson to the board?
Only if we want people to laugh at us. he wont go to an AFL club for many years but he may go to another sport. he does come from Rugby League so may end up back there in a few years.

Id take him for sure.
Hes been cut loose by the Bombers who are sacrificing 'non essendon' people and buffering their own.

He was cut loose because he is the main boss and had no idea about the supplements program. It wasnt good enough and he was always going to be the first to go behind Dank and Robinson.

exactly people bang on here have Nettlefold is not great ect ect the fact is this bloke either turned a blind eye to what was going on (terrible thing) or had no idea what was going on (in some respects even worse) ...
the guy may have a clue and be good at what he does but this is carreer suicide no way should the St Kilda football club look to involve themselves with this kind of incompetence

Not yet.
The investigation needs to unfold first. Once ASADA and the AFL have taken all their shots, then we can make a better decision on whether Robson is the quality operator that he's shown to be in his time at the hawks, or he is the negligent CEO his time at the Bummers has shown.

No way, that would make us a laughing stock again, we have been out of the "bad media" for a while and lets keep it that way

Yes, but you sense that he is just the first of several heads to roll. Hird will be lucky to survive it.Con Gorozidis wrote:the Bombers are sacrificing 'non essendon' people and buffering their own.

Less people from Essendon the better.
He's got no idea about what's goes on there,he probably fit in with our board though...
Get someone better IMO.

Re: Should we recruit Ian Robson to the board?
From what we're all hearing from Essendon, they seemingly have done nothing wrong regarding PEDS... Everything was in fact legal, or given the all clear.. So he's resigned for not being aware of players/coaches undertaking legal actions??... I'm sure he's not informed of every time James drives through a green light at 60kmp or crosses when the green man is flashing, how is this any different?!

Because whether it is legal or not he didnt know what was happened and it is his job to know. He is the club boss.

The AFL? They got rid of Cameron Schwab from Melbourne, was it for bringing the game into disrepute?plugger66 wrote:

Alternatively Hird may fall on his own sword. Allegedly set a poor example by having injections and it was under his stewardship that the whole debacle has unfolded.
Robson was an early sacrificial lamb I think, but it's not going to stop with him.
Re: Should we recruit Ian Robson to the board?
Melbourne got rid of Schwab but he wasnt a hero amongst melbourne supporters. i reckon Hird will not go but one or two others will IMO.bigcarl wrote:The AFL? They got rid of Cameron Schwab from Melbourne, was it for bringing the game into disrepute?plugger66 wrote:

I hear there was significant pressure behind the scenes coming from high up the AFL hierachy. Not that a club's administration should be the league's concern IMO.
Probably right that Hird will survive as he is a hero of the game. Whether he deserves to is another question.

Re: Should we recruit Ian Robson to the board?
i was reading the paper today and one coment got me ... Robson said that there had been practices done in 2012 that had
let down their players and their families... so what were the practices ? if there was nothing illegal with the stuff they were being injected with how were the players and their families let down ?
