Would you accept this trade?

Post: # 1354683Post bhtay1 »

Was mentioned of afl 360 tonight as a complete hypothetical for GWS pick 1 screnario.

GWS give pick 19 to saints
Saints give dal or monty to dons
Blues give yarran and Gibbs to dons
Dons give Hurley and bellchambers to GWS
Blues get pick 1 from GWS

Effectively we give dal or monty for pick 19. Personally I'd consider this, particularly for dal who hasn't been great this year and might enjoy a refresh.

From that deal overall, tough to see blues giving up Gibbs or dons with hurley, but stranger things have happened.

Ps. Does anyone think there is a slight chance GWS would pass on Boyd if they kept pick 1 given their wealth of key fwds? I actually think there is a reasonable chance we won't win another game this season given our tough draw home which could mean we finish 2nd last.... Personally I'd love to get Boyd. Would get me genuinely excited about our team which I havent been since 2010..

And just out of interest, who does everyone think is the winner and loses out of the 4 teams in this trade?

In isolation, Bellchambers is worth a 2nd rounder (perhaps even a lateish one), and Hurley I would rate a late first round, and dropping.. Is clearly not going to be a champion Luke Darcy so desperately think he is..

How a 2 round and late first rounder = pick 1, I've no idea..

Swap Hurley for Carlisle, and it's on..

In saying that, with that example, Essendon are the big big winners.. Dal, Yarren & Gibbs for Hurley and Bellchambers..

F$&# that!!

Bombers the big winners out of that one.

Gibbs is starting to come good. Yarran has bags of talent as yet untapped.

Bellchambers I like as a player but is behind Ryder at Essendon.

Hurley will be superseded by Daniher before long.

Dal or Joey for #19 seems about right, but if we do that we risk doing a Melbourne. Through retirments we'll lose Lenny and Milne at the end of 2013/14, and Chips and Rooey at the end of 2014/15, so we really need Dal and Joey around to continue playing through that period. Both are 29 and *could* still be playing as veterans in 2016/17 as 32/33yo.s helping our new young team.

If he wants to go then he goes
If he wants to stay then I'd def keep him.

I initially thought it was both Joey and Dal and my reaction was "no effing way!".

This doesn't sound like an unreasonable hypothetical.

On current form 19 is good for Dal. Not worth thinking about until we know what happens to the bombers players though

That trade would be horrible for us.

Why give up a club champion and potential legend for a pick that low? Unless its an ultra draft which is doubtful. Why is everyone so keen to trade Dal or Joey? These guys are worth way more than just what their onfield performance says. Or we could trade all our experienced players away and be left with kids. Like GWS. And win 0-2 games a year for a decade.

I'm NOT as sure as many media commentators that Tom Boyd will go #1.

Aish, Scharenberg and/or Sheed are all a chance. A lot will depend on whether Franklin accepts the GWS offer !!

NEW scarf signature (hopefully with correct spelling) will be here as soon as it arrives !!

I wouldn't take 19 for Dal or Monty.
They both have 3 or 4 years left and are game changers worth more than pick 19.

Hows about we get Yarran Gibbs Hurley and Gumbleton for a pack of Tim Tams and a chop at Scott Watters missus

I think it is the most s.hitful of trades I can imagine. We need our experience while WE build a team

Not give more of our mids to the drug cheats while we get 15 goal floggings a week.

David King can go get a dog up him.

i thought it was a fkn dumb outrageous suggestion actually.....there are about 7 very good footballers on offer in the draft...the rest are a lottery.....i nearly threw somethng through the tellie at the wanker....

in " inside football" recently russell holmesby stated how angry he was to hear king state that the saints should trade dal......i agree with him(russell)....the clown is still going on with the same nonsense it would seem.....

anyway...who sys that gws are going to finish last....are they tanking?????...if they aren't...why is everyone so sure that they are not going to win a couple of games before seasons end.......???/  .

How I would like to see St.Kilda's trade work is:-
To GWS.... Pick 3/4, Dal Santo & Montagna.
From GWS... Jonathan Paton, picks 10 and 19.

That would work for me.

Keep Dal and Joey if that is the compensation on offer. We don't want to become the next Melbourne. I'd rather be te next Sydney, and that means hanging onto your star veterans.

Well if we got that, I wouldn't complain.

To get Paton we would have to do something like that, pick 10 and 19 could be used on mids I suppose.

All depends if we pick up a mid aged mid by FA or trade.

How about Dal and pick 4 for pick 1 and GWS mid round pick (eg 12).

Think they'd take that in a heartbeat and if Tom Boyd is half as good as ppl think he is, then we'll go alright

They want a ruckman and Im doubting they want a 30 year old who will be retired when they make the finals.

How about our first rounder & Mc Evoy to GWS for pick 1 and a second round pick.

That's not enough.

Also, your "chop at Watters" comment is a bit low. She has kids ffs..and women's round is coming up.

Throw in TDL and a 12 pack of UDL's and a bottle of Cougar. That will get it done.

We need to give up something to get something. It's the art of negotitaion JB.

i dont get it ... everyone knows the Dee's cut too deep and in turn made a 5 year rebuild a 10-15 year prospect ...now they are expecting the saints to do the same thing ? if we are going to follow a team plan then i would say the dee's plan would be by far the last one to copy
