Brodie Murdoch

Post: # 1357589Post howlinwolf »

I'm interested to hear people's thoughts on Brodie's future.
I only caught the last 1/4 and half yesterday and it was the first time I'd seen him play.
I see he is listed as 188cm and 78kgs and 19 yo.
His brother Jordan is 190cm, 85kg and 21 yo.
So Brodie may be a similar build in 2 years time.

I watched the Cats v Hawks on Friday night and was impressed at how quickly Jordan has adapted to AFL pace.
Not only that but in the couldron of pressure that was in that game. 3 goals was incredible. To me he looked a 50 game player.
I'd be wrapt to see anything similar from our Murdoch.

Yeah his big bro looked like he played his best game so far. He certainly looks like a solid player Brodie and played his best for us the same week. We might need to get his brother playing good to help the rivalry.

I have a good feeling about both the Murdoch's prospects. They both look like they"d be good running through the midfield.Seem to have pace, nice kicks and don't mind contact.

78kg??? He'd be around 90 surely.

Can play. Kicked a ball tearer into the forward line that setup Clint Jone's goal.

Good point Savatage. I thought from what I saw yesterday he looked bigger than 78kg.
I guess a lot of our player profiles have been out of date.

Brods seem the run with a bit of a hunch which seems like his shorter , but when he jumps for his marks does get quite hight and strong over head. Will be a difficult match up in the future

With a bigger fitness base & say, 2 more pre-seasons - he will be impossible to move off the ball.

Yeah those profiles are generally so outdated it isn't funny.

Brodie (aka Bull) was listed as 86kg when we drafted him. Has he lost 8kg? I really doubt it. The 78kg is almost certainly a typo.

But you have to like him. He is composed tough and tackles like he means it. Hes good overhead and can kick. Seems to make the right decisions.

Seems a good prospect for a 3rd tall. Leads pretty well to space. Stewie Dew/Ryan O'keefe style type player.

I reckon he could be a tall midfielder who could pinch up forward or down back.

Looks like a big, strong mid to me. God knows we need one

Big strong lump of a kid. I reckon he could be a third tall of the Stewart Crameri variety. Not sure if he has the game to be a genuine midfielder.

I have no idea what his future holds, it'd be nice though If some of our young players went on with it and became very good AFL players..

It would be even better if some became Great AFL players, very hard to judge at the very start of their careers...

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Great kick. I reckon he can play anywhere, forward, mid, back.

nice article

has anyone seen who he supported as a younger man?
Murdoch admits playing with some of his childhood heroes was a daunting prospect at first.

“It’s a little bit surreal sometimes. You stop and think for a second who you’re playing with. After a while you get used to it, and as they get to know you they get more comfortable around you, but at stages you do sit back and go, ‘wow, look who I’m playing with’.”

In round 18, Murdoch is aware of the possibility of playing against an opponent he’s more familiar with: his brother Jordan, who plays for Geelong.

Looks a natural.

I think in time he will become part of our midfield.

Is the type of player that we have lacked.

Gee it seems like we've had a really good run with introducing new players. With the exception of say Jackson Fergusson, all of the new guys have made an immediate impact on debut and shown something to be excited about. I can't help thinking that SW has got a lot to do with that.
