No idea why Fisher should be gone. Care to explain. One injury riddled year means he should go. Pretty strange I reckon.

Before everyone proceeds to list players who they think are going well - I remind all of you we are 3rd bottom with 3 wins and a % of 78 and getting lower.

So lets keep things real and current please.

But I dont know how good Fisher, Schneider and Gwilt would be, hardly saw any of them this year.

How could you get rid of them or want to?

The game at Geelong would be a weekly occurance under your destruction.

Lance or James??

Gwilt fisher haven't even had opportunities to play their traditional role since we let Zac go and haven't replaced him.

I would be moving CJ on, but keeping Schneider & Gwilt,

Absolutely no way we would get rid of Fisher… that's insane Con considering our tall defender shortage.

agree with the others generally… Milne, Kosi, Blake & Jones makes 4 spots Ledger, Saad & Milera would be doubtful at this stage… also old BJ mk2 Siposs is looking very, very ordinary right now.

CJ shut down Rich after half time. He's a great tagger, a good asset to have on the list. Smart footballer too. His kicking this year has been the best yet.

He was on Rich when he kicked 3 goals wasn't he?

At any rate, when we are losing 90% of the time I can't see the point in having a specialist tagger in the side when half the time, his man still ends up BOG.

Our biggest issue is skill execution, particularly kicking IMO, CJ for all his effort is still the worst kicking mid in the comp, time to move on.

That said, I won't be upset if he stays on, he does set a great example in effort…

Hopefully we have 2 decent young mids from this year's draft who we will be pumping games into, and if Hayes goes on, with Montagna & Dal… something has to give.

Milne, Blake, & Koschitzke are the only definites for me. De-list another 2 (probably out of Saad, Milera, Ledger, & TDL). Upgrade a rookie, and then have 4 picks in the draft (3,21,39,57). Next year we'll probably see Hayes, Fisher, Jones, & Schneider go.

That will leave us in 2015 only (possibly) four players aged 30 or over - Riewoldt, Montagna, Dal Santo, Dempster. The bulk of the list will be aged between 18 and 24.

Currently, we have in the 18 to 22 age group:

Hickey, Siposs, Ross, Lee, Markworth, Newnes, Roberton, White, Stanley, Webster, Murdoch, Simpkin, Wright, Saunders, Lever. Add another 10 to that list in the next 2 drafts, then we'll have 25 players between 18 and 24, but only 5 players in the 25 to 27 age group. That main young group won't hit the ideal 24 to 26 age demographic until 2016. Then we should start to see improvement from 2017.

Brent Maloney was 28 when they axed him.
Jared Rivers was 28.
Liam Jurrah 24
Tom Scully 20
Brad Green 30

I think the Melbourne thing is a bit of a myth to be honest.
I think they have all sorts of other issues that make them bad.

He is shorter than gilbo and Roberton neither of whom are tall baxks.
He is the same height as simpkin who everyone on here complains about being too small.

Fisher was a very good defender under Lyon.
He took on the #1 forward who was usually taller,
and got great assistance from the game plan and team rules.
SW has changed things around, also opposition analysts worked out ways to negate Fisher.
Hopefully his surgery is successful.
Hope we get a decent defensive coach to regain the mojo.

Yep and whats your point. height isnt relevant when we have actually seen him play on the big guys. Con you are trying anything to prove he should go but this one to just plain silly.

We need senior players during our rebuild, my thoughts:

Hayes, Lenny - Please stay for 2014
Milne, Stephen - Stay for 2014
Blake, Jason - Gone
Fisher, Sam - Stay until 2015
Koschitzke, Justin - Gone ( I love my kozi)
Riewoldt, Nick - Please stay for 2014 and 2015....
Montagna, Leigh - Stay
Dempster, Sean - Stay
Jones, Clinton - Stay
Dal Santo, Nick - Stay
Schneider, Adam - Stay
Maister, Beau - Stay
Ray, Farren - Stay
Gwilt, James - Stay
Gilbert, Sam - Stay

We need these senior players in the team at least for the 2014-2015 period to ease in and assist our new players, we should be heading north (ladder wise) in 2016 onwards.

Its going to be a dark year next year, i expect improvement by the latter stages of 2015.

Man oh man we need some defenders and mids and please players who can kick the ball 50m plus, hope well are active and brazen during this draft period, especially with free agents.

After half time? WTF is that about… he manned him from the first bounce, Rich kicked 3 goals in the first half and racked up 19 touches for the game… would be one of his best matches for the year.

How is that a win?

Smart footballer? He's afraid to kick the ball so runs in a circle looking to handball.

So that's 2 players retired, who else do we delist in order to draft more than 2 players and add some mature defenders?

I just don't see how we are going to continue to get games into young guys if we retain all those players…

Our strongest is side is probably something like…
Milne Maister Schneider
Dal Santo Riewoldt Lee
Montagna Steven Jones
Gilbert Fisher Gwilt
Geary Dempster Roberton

McEvoy Hayes, Armitage

Ray, Stanley, Wright

(plus a mature KPD or 2)

But this side still won't compete with about 14 other sides…

I don't think we can wait for injuries to play these guys…

Murdoch, Saunders, Hickey, Siposs, Ross, Markworth, Newnes, Webster, Simpkin, Dunell, Wright

Otherwise we will be even worse off in 2 years time.

We need Milney, but sadly I think we wont have him because of his trial next year. I cant see the point of keeping Maister on the list with Tom Lee doing so well and Markwell to come back.

Every game we play an old guy who ain't that good anymore anyway we just slow down te process of renewal and stop a kid getting experience.

I'd much rather see Shenton in the midfield than CJ.
