As an assistant coach?
He hasnt played since 2007 and is nearly 33 , so i would very much doubt it as a player.

He has been at the Eagles for the last 3 years. From all reports has been very good with player development and strategies. A lot of Eagles fans wanted him to throw his hat in the ring to replace Woosha.
I am still hurting from 71;

We need a new Assistant - we really do.
Problem is Scott is so insecure in the job he mightn't have the balls to appoint an ambitious and good young Assistant like Basset.
Its a real catch 22. Coaches who feel safe in their job are more likely to feel safe appointing good Assistants.
SW may only feel comfortable appointing s*** ones or mates (like Laidley).
Difficult situation.
Teague is supposedly a decent coach.
This is why you need a footy mgr - its also one of the reasons why there will always be tension between the coach and footy mgr (except when ur winning and everyone is a happy little vegemite).
This is also why Bigmarts top down mgt structure with the Coach at the top would never work and isnt common practice at ANY club.
There are just so many situations where the coaches interest diverge from the Clubs overall interest.
One of them is hiring of Assistants , one is contracts and list mgt and one is recruitment (TDL anyone?)

CON I don't think the club will have sufficient finances to attract new Assistants particularly if the current coaches are contracted.
SAINTS another day older another day closer to the Holy Grail!
