Alan Richardson
Well the exhausting interview and recruiting process that came down in favour of Scott Watters has shown to be an abject failure. Alan Richardson from memory was the runner up in that process. This guy seems to be well respected in the football industry and, like Hinkley, just needs an opportunity. Has assistant coaching and development experience at a number of clubs. Has football smarts and seems ready to go. Seems a real football person and not a spruiker.
I for one hope the club gives Richardson some serious consideration and it just might show that he should of been selected ahead of Watters in the first place.

Re: Alan Richardson
I hope they don't reappoint anyone from the previous coach selection panel this time around.
They may even resort to picking a name out of a hat and offering them the gig, it could only turn out as bad as the previous method.

Re: Alan Richardson
Perhaps we could organize a "Big Brother" type phone in to select the coach.
Great fundraising opportunity for the club.
If it works we could then do it on a weekly basis to select the team!

Re: Alan Richardson
Richardson has done a lengthy apprenticeship as assistant at Bulldogs (3 years), Essendon (3 years), Carlton (2 years) and Port (1 year). He was also development manager at Collingwood under Malthouse for 2 years. The interesting bit about him is he left Carlton after Micky moved in. For that I would give him some kudos as it appears that Micky can be bad for your coaching career. He is cherry ripe for a senior gig and worthy of a chance to mould a young list.

Re: Alan Richardson
I just really hope we don't appoint Rob Harvey. Not a senior coach in my opinion.
I'm coming around to the idea of Choco. He has the experience. But he is a larger than life personality after all and didn't we just sack a guy largely because of his ego?

Re: Alan Richardson
richardson? sure, why not?
although he has a 0% winning record against north, pretty ordinary.

Re: Alan Richardson
One little tidbit from Wayne42"s link was that Pelchan was involved at hawthorn in 89 & 91 (which were premiership years) and were before he went to port. There are a few raised eyebrows around here about why he left hawthorn, but, they must have seen something in him to re-appoint him after the port stint.Wayne42 wrote:Brad Johnson was one of themdefacto wrote:

I want a good and successful coach LONG TERM! I somehow, don't see Mark Williams being at any club (other than Port) long term.

Re: Alan Richardson
I think we need an experienced coach with the turmoil and power struggles at the moment - Mark Williams fits the bill. While there may be some great young coaches I have concerns whether they will be able to show their full ability and take risks in the current environment they will be walking into , especially if reports are true about Waters going outside the structure - a new coach would be too paranoid not to do this after securing their first job and in doing so not achieve their full potential.
Williams has experience working with Pelican and ego and confidence with runs on the board to back himself. He has won a premiership and been at a club with sustained success for a number of years.
