Seems like a likely target for us. Anyone seen much of him?Kristian Jaksch (Greater Western Sydney, age 19)
You may not haven’t heard of this GWS 196cm swingman, taken at pick 12 two years back, but every list manager has. He is surplus to requirements and the extremely strong mail is he will be out the door at year’s end, headed elsewhere for better opportunities.

Depends.
Does he do weights?
Did he go to a private school?
Holder of unacceptable views and other thought crimes.

Yeah I guess he hasn't played any games for them this year ......
Do people want to maybe wait until the season starts until they can make a judgement on whether a player has had opportunity or not?

Re: Kristian Jaksch
Your kidding right the kids will be a very good KPF player it is just there it that much talent ahead of him at GWS he wont get a go! Having said that there are a number of other talls at GWS I would be happy with. The other thought it is about time we got one back on Sydney in the KPF stakes and Sam REID will struggle to get a run up forward this year and given that he is from Melbourne the Saints might be able to wave so cash under his nose and steal one from them!magnifisaint wrote:Picking up other teams surplus is never going to make the Saints any good

Re: Kristian Jaksch
How much could we get for the no. 2/3 draft pick (if we obtain it) considering we're probably seen as a non-challenger for quite some time?
It's probably a fantasy, but imagine a package that would include 3 out-of-contract, down the pecking order, "young guns" from GWS..
All Vic boys (or wanting to play where people live for the game), so no desire to go to Brisbane. And hopefully they've grown up seeing Melbourne as a roll-over/tanking club.

Re: Kristian Jaksch
Kew Rovers - not interested
Only kidding
What we know for sure is:
1. We will have at least 2 picks in the top 25 of the draft.
2. We will be chasing tall KPPs - especially fwds
3. All clubs will be looking at GWS for players
SO based on that Id say this guy would be right up there in our thinking.

Re: Kristian Jaksch
From memory he copped the largest suspension ever dished out in the TAC Cup, so has a bit of mongrel about him.
Was a talented junior, and GWS have a plethora of key position players.

Re: Kristian Jaksch
Realistically we might only have to use a 3rd rounder on this kind of guy - not because hes no good just because he cant get a game up there.
As someone else said - maybe we will do some kind of deal with them.

Re: Kristian Jaksch
In relation to GWS this may not be the case given the amount of early picks they have had..........magnifisaint wrote:Picking up other teams surplus is never going to make the Saints any good

Not only that, but no team ever will be exclusively made up of stars. The aim of the trading game is to replace your GOPs with better GOPs.chook23 wrote:In relation to GWS this may not be the case given the amount of early picks they have had..........magnifisaint wrote:Picking up other teams surplus is never going to make the Saints any good
So I have to fundamentally disagree with you. Picking up another team's surplus can make the Saints better.

Re: Kristian Jaksch
I agree that we shouldnt go for other teams surplus - but GWS are a special case.
They had loads of early draft picks and its still early to work out who is good and who isnt - so there is time to get a good player from them.

Re: Kristian Jaksch
So if we get him back for next to nothing and he turns into a star, and Lee also turns into a star, it will go down as the best trading in years.Spinner wrote:No one else realise this was the Tom Lee pick?
Our original pick 12 - already on the scrap heap.

Good to see the Herald Sun leading the way in the use of appropriate grammar. Their maths isn't so good either. He was taken in the 2012 draft but in football terms, that is not two years ago.FQF wrote:From the Herald Sun today:

I think some of the GWS management post on this board. Who else would write off a 19 year old after 1 season?

Too true, that Fraser Gehrig clown did nothing for us at FF either.

Re: Kristian Jaksch
Not sure the G train was really 'surplus'.
He was an All Australian at WC at age 21.
Id say he was disgruntled and we paid him big bucks.

This is a funny thread, almost a highlights package of this weeks rubbish in threads...
I must say though, I doubt GWS will want to play fair with us after we bent them over for Bruce. Suggestions we would get a former #12 pick from two years ago for a third rounder are fanciful at best.
Picking up first round draft picks, especially key position players, after two years, is definitely something' I'd be happy with.
