I want to see Dunnel in
We have Roo who is Roo
Stanley is developing nicely
But we simply have failed with that 3rd forward option. Maister who I like simply doesn't appear up to it. Can't mark it. The mosquito fleet approach won't hold up. Gwilt can't do it.
Lee and Siposs seem nowhere near it
Dunnel played early as a forward. His best games have been as a forward. His form at Sandy has been decent.
I want back this kid in. Lets give him the same opportunity Maister got and lets see what he can do

Re: I want to see Dunnel in
We could really use someone like Tom Lynch but I'd be happy to see Dunnell get a crack again.

I'd rather have either Markworth or Acres. Both have more tricks and the extra height makes them better marking options as well

Re: I want to see Dunnel in
Get the feeling that Markworth has been earmarked for that tallish floating HF type for a couple of years now. His recent form Looks like he isn't far away from a call- up, and with more potential upside than Dunell . Sam needs to force his way in in the next fortnight or it may be too late.

Dunnell is a far better mark than Markworth
Not sure about Scres... Seems as though he is playing HB

Re: I want to see Dunnel in
At the Junction oval training I was really impressed with Dunnell. He is very highly skilled and clean and knows how to intuitively position himself. Worth giving him a go. He must be gone if they don't play him this year so why not let him have a go.

With our back line looking reasonable now, can Fisher be an option in the forward line?BigMart wrote:Dunnell is a far better mark than Markworth

Re: I want to see Dunnel in
I have watched almost every VFL game live this year, Dunell is good overhead, but Markworth is as good and is quicker and has much better skills and more evasive has far more upside than Dunell. Acres has been playing on the wing mostly. Today he ran through the midfield and spent some time across half forwardBigMart wrote:Dunnell is a far better mark than Markworth

Re: I want to see Dunnel in
Don't agree about Markworth and Dunnells marking. Dunnell has actually played Key Position at VFL level.... And Markworth is an outside Wingman?
I've read that Acres has played across HB? That's what's been reported by Allen and Hudson?

Re: I want to see Dunnel in
We need to make a decision on Dunnell one way or the other and I would prefer that it be an informed one. I wouldn't mind letting him have a run of games to see how he performs. Haven't seen all that much of him myself, but perhaps he can play a Robbie Gray type role?

I'm led to believe not

Possibly.... But probably not?
A call needs to be made on
Milera, TDL, Shenton, Dunnell, Weller, Simpkin, Maister, Lee
All mature age and not in best 22 ATM

Re: I want to see Dunnel in
Dunnell is a strong mark for his size and has footy smarts- never really been given a chance to settle in the seniors and I think he deserves a spot over a few others as we need to add a little more middle-size player marking power in the forward line. Lee is not doing much at Sandy, TDL and Milera are not strong overhead, so I think Sam is a good option for a while.
Re: I want to see Dunnel in
Agreed. I'd add Minchington (only 20 but a long way from seniors) and Roberton (maybe injured?). At least 5 of those 10 will go at the end of the season to make room for the next batch, so we need to find out enough about them before that happens.BigMart wrote:A call needs to be made on

Re: I want to see Dunnel in
I don't get the fascination with Dunnel. He doesn't have the body for an AFL footballer, we've seen it before. You need to be toying with them at VFL level to make it at AFL level when you are his build. He's a good VFL player, but will not make it

Shouldn't be on the list then.jonesy wrote:I don't get the fascination with Dunnel. He doesn't have the body for an AFL footballer, we've seen it before. You need to be toying with them at VFL level to make it at AFL level when you are his build. He's a good VFL player, but will not make it

I think Sippos will be delisted before Lee is.stinger wrote:BigMart wrote:Possibly.... But probably not?

Re: I want to see Dunnel in
Absolutely, Lee is a long term project, no chance a call will be made this year.FQF wrote:I think Sippos will be delisted before Lee is.stinger wrote:BigMart wrote:Possibly.... But probably not?

Not sure on marking, but Markworth would be ahead of Dunell in most areas…BigMart wrote:Dunnell is a far better mark than Markworth

Is Dunell going to play CHF at AFL level? I don't think he has a position TBH. Good VFL player, like TDL.
