At the end of the year, all non-footballers are to go.

Premierships are not won by clumsy players, who lack kicking skills, peripheral awareness, and onfield intelligence.

Geary, Jones, and Farren Ray have their chance.

Why didn't we pick Hartung? 26 disposals in 3 quarters.

Longer is not up to it.
Savage can go away.
Simpkin unfortunately not up to it.

There are a few more things but I can't be buggered now.

The only thing I would like to post is my signature. The one thing I will say is I too am spewing but it is hardly surprising....

As a kid I watched St Kilda "win" 7 wooden spoons in 11 years, including 4 in a row. Harden the f up everyone. We will be s*** for the next 3 years no matter we keep Dal Goddard Lockett and whoever else you can think of. We need to spend another 3 years in the bottom 4 and then we will start rising. 2013 is 1999, 2014 is 2000, 2015 is 2001, 2016 is 2002. Simple as that.

Simpkin unfortunately cannot play. By my count he had at least 6 kicked on him, possibly 8 (Gubstan 4, S'Makers 4) Fancy letting Schoenmakers give you the stick. It's time to leave him where he plays his best football. At Sandy!

I'm not entirely sure why Simpkin is on a senior AFL list?

Has the talent pool been spread so thin due to the expansion teams?

Very sad situation this competition is in when a player like him gets to play senior AFL football.

So we should accept being pathetic, non competitive and embarrassing... All whilst paying at least 95% of the teams that humiliate us?!

Interesting

Least in the 80s we were not paying our duds much....

I wonder if Carlton had the same vision in 2005 when they took 3 straight number 1 picks.... Or Melbourne in 2008 when they had two in a row... And a priority pick?

Or Geelong or Collingwood decided ... Oh well we had a few years up, let's go to the bottom and be assured another tilt?

We lost by 145 points. So not sure its knee jerk.

Inside 50s 66-25 (x 2.6) - yet they outscored us (x5.8)

Thats pretty damning for our defence.

Not happy with Billings, Dimstan and Acres?

I rate Hartung but I could have got 26 disposals it there today for the Hawks an I need a knee replacement.

Agree Junior. Got most possessions when he ran fwd of the ball and got on the end of it.

I mean even Shane Savage could have got 30 touches and kicked a few goals and got Brownlow votes if he was playing for them against us.

If Hartung played for us today he wouldnt have touched the ball and if Savage played for them he would have looked like a superstar.

Pity you did not watch the game.
However maybe you can read stats.
St Kilda's best by miles was Montagna 39 diposals then
Steven 29
Hayes 24
RAY 24
JONES 21
These were the only players with 20 or more possessions.
GEARY only had 9 possessions but then he was injured and substituted out in the second quarter so he was going at over 20 for the match.

It is all that YOUNG rubbish that surrounded them that stopped trying after Hawthorn's first quarter blitz.
The players that Gold Coast and Greater Western Sydney did not select.
Trailing their opponents in, waiting for their opponents to take possession etc
Not fighting for first possession and not running to provide support for a team mate under pressure.

Yes, some players have had their chance, clumsy YOUNG players, who lack kicking skills, peripheral awareness, and onfield intelligence AND PLAYING SOFT.

Geary had 9 possessions with only 23% time on ground. He certainly was our best in the first quarter.
The players who underperformed were Delaney, Savage, Saunders, Simpkin, Acres, Longer, Newnes, Curren and Gwilt until injured.
Riewoldt and Schneider did little but then the ball rarely got near them.

Career highlights

Shane Savage

30 disps (22 kicks 8 hballs) and 9 marks in Rd 20 46-pt win over St Kilda at Etihad Stadium (9 Aug 2013)

I think this says it all.

Spot on, Con. We fell for the old, "he played well against us, so let's get him", trick.

Simpkin is tough and competed well - he is the third tall back and should be played as well as Bruce - the ball streamed into the Hawkes forward line all day unimpeded and with great delivery - of course the key back is destroyed when we are humiliated like today ..

My knee jerk reaction is send savage back to the resi's for the year - looks like a roving reporter following the game around - last 2 weeks have been his 'something to prove ' opportunities - not too often you get them 2 weeks running , and he hasn't had a sniff -- give Milera a go before savage is even considered as an emergency

IMO Jones is a gutsy player but seems to me to be a turnover king. Puts boot to ball without much thought and even when he has time seems to go down the throat of an opposition player. He has been a good servant of the club but for mine I see Weller taking his spot in the future.

Good effort by Geary and I admire him as a player - but the fact is he is in our top 6 players.
He should be our 16th best.

Reading upward on the possessions list? I suppose there are lazier ways to analyse a game. I cant think of any, but they have to be there.

EDIT: Not actually possessions. Dream Team points.

Yeah nah pleasing positive
