Delaney
Probably the most underrated recruit of the year. If playing in a good side this guy would be noticed. Champion data released a stat 2 weeks ago that I can't remember exactly but him in top 2 for defenders.

Re: Delaney
Has definitely grabbed his opportunity with both hands. Good move by the recruiters/list managers to get him !!
NEW scarf signature (hopefully with correct spelling) will be here as soon as it arrives !!

Re: Delaney
The fact he came so cheap makes it even better. If we can somehow find a few more cheap gems then it will assist greatly.
I was terrible opposed to recruiting Delaney on the pure basis of him being part of an average side for a good few years. How wrong was I.
Very Happy he is around!

Agreed, his bro is meant to be better, and still cant get a game at Norf... make the move Cam! Then have Brucey as a swingman. The Redeemer wrote:The fact he came so cheap makes it even better. If we can somehow find a few more cheap gems then it will assist greatly.

Re: Delaney
He was fantastic today, but has been really good all year. I was a bit worried after seeing his first few games, but he has improved just about every game. You rarely see him lose a one on one contest.

Re: Delaney
Agree with every comment! I really believe that during a relatively short period, a lot of folk will be eating krud over some of the negative stuff posted about the team building that we are experiencing ATM. Bruce and Delaney will be vital parts of a strong Saints defence. I see nothing but good times in the future with the rebuild.

Re: Delaney
Quite comfortable with us having Delaney instead of Mitch Brown. Good in one on ones and managed to take a few grabs today.

Re: Delaney
Exceptional recruit well done Saints....
SAINTS another day older another day closer to the Holy Grail!
Re: Delaney
It was actually a desperation pick after Mitch Brown fell through?!
And he has worked out very well ... IMO he's better than brown at less than half the price
Thought he might be a Maister.... He's ended up a steal!

Re: Delaney
I totally agree. Plays very tight and backs himself in. Just what we needed so desperately.BigMart wrote:It was actually a desperation pick after Mitch Brown fell through?!

Re: Delaney
Is that a question or a statement? I mean, I see a question mark there, but it looks like a statement, confusing...BigMart wrote:It was actually a desperation pick after Mitch Brown fell through?!

Anyway, I disagree with it regardless, how can it be a desperation pick after Brown fell through if it occurred a full 12 months down the track? If we'd gotten desperate we would've grabbed anyone in that year we tried to get Brown.
I see it as the recruiters doing their job properly, scouting lists and picking up the best available, I am surprised with how well Del has gone but I am happy with their choice.
Record books with indicate that we got him for a steal but they wont show that he wouldn't have been so cheap without us gifting them Dal Santo.

Re: Delaney
Agree with all posts...he looks to have built confidence as the season has worn on, and hopefully as he plays with the same players more, he will be confident with disposal by foot and offer a bit the other way, can't fault his 1:1 work...perhaps doesn't have the best closing speed, but that's being very high end picky ![Wink ;-)](./images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)

Re: Delaney
I'm told the Brown deal fell through at the very last minute. No fallback options possible that year. No doubt Brown was our preference but currently it's looking like we got a better result twelve months down the track.St Ick wrote:Anyway, I disagree with it regardless, how can it be a desperation pick after Brown fell through if it occurred a full 12 months down the track?
