Who has stepped up? Who hasn't
Improved/lead from the front:
- Riewoldt
- Hayes
- Delaney (just what we needed)
- Newnes (great year)
- Dunstan (Next Lenny)
- Billings (so much class)
- Steven (great returning from injury)
- Armitage (stood up when not injured)
- Wright (stood up when not injured)
- Dempster (very solid down back)
- Ray (so consistent)
- Stanley (certainly ahead of where he was last year, just need to keep improving)
- White (greatly improved over last 6 months)
- Weller (deserves upgrade)
- Shenton (Provided great run - a chance for upgrade)
OK:
- Savage (got better as the year went on)
- Montagna (carried a big burden)
- Bruce (looks like an option as third tall)
- Ross (good last few weeks)
- Longer (encouraging but a long way to go)
- Curren (solid year but has he improved?)
- Murdoch (starting to show talent)
- Saunders (Not there yet but improving)
Year ruined by injuries:
- Hickey (How good would he have been without injury)
- Geary (a lost year)
- Gilbert (will we get an injury free year next year)
- Fisher (same as Gilbert)
- Webster (a few injuries and off field issues)
- Acres (showed a bit)
- Templeton (great start of the year could get upgraded)
Yet to debut:
- Markworth (hope he gets an injury free year!)
- Pierce (improving)
- Holmes (way above expectations)
Questions?:
- Siposs (didn't come on)
- Roberton (not up to great standard of last year)
- Jones (worked hard and thanks for the service)
- TDL (???)
- Lee (showed glimpse but didn't see improvement)
- Schneider (injuries made an big impact)
- Simpkin (not quite up to it)
- Milera (going home)
- Gwilt (Solid worker that had too many bad moments - turnover for goal again today)
- Minchington (to late for Minch)
- Riewoldt
- Hayes

Yep agree with the assessment. Pretty spot on with the list, its now making the decisions which is the hard part. Who stays & who goes. Jones & Gwilt already announced. Hayes & Maister retired. Milera going home. That's 5 spaces already.

Schneider is also cooked IMO. Can't see any value in keeping him.

I reckon Murdoch will be the big improver next year along with Acres hopefully getting on the field.
I also reckon Wright needs to move onto a wing....he is an ordinary defender, and Geary and Webster are both ahead of him, as is Savage as a rebounder.

Re: Who has stepped up? Who hasn't
We have only 7 players left from the 2010 gF: Nick Riewoldt, Sean Dempster, Leigh Montagna, Adam Schneider, Sam Fisher, Farren Ray and Sam Gilbert. By weeks end could be even less. So now we really need the younger players to step up.

Re: Who has stepped up? Who hasn't
Poor old TDL is alway up and about in the VFL but just can't bring it up to AFL level, same with Dunnell. Both a class above the VFL but not quite there for some reason. Both unlikely to go on from here. Siposs might be lucky that so many are likely to go. Can't delist everyone.

OK crystal ball time.
we know:
Hayes and Maister retired
Gwilt and Jones delisted
Milera moving on
Who else (based on no factual information):
Lee and Siposs on the trade table,
- with Freo considering (but offering very little) for Lee
- Sydney offering a deal for Siposs
TDL, Schneider, Dunnel and Simpkin no offers and gone.
Upgrades for Weller (replacing Jones), Shenton (replacing Dunnel) and Eli (replacing Schneider)
Leaves six senior and four rookie spots

Re: Who has stepped up? Who hasn't
Poor game from Shenton today when he really needed to put in a good effort. I would not upgrade him.
Leaves 7 senior spots, 4 rookie spots.
Will trade in 2 or 3, leaving 4 or 5 senior spots for the draft. Reasonable.
I hope Xavier Clarke can have some input to the rookie draft. May be able to identify one or two good N.T. boys.
