Who said he wasn't rated by us? I think he has all the tools to make a good career, and with opportunity and fitness I think he'll do it.matrix wrote:must be highly rated around the club

Yep who would have thought what we thinks doesn't matter.

Im worried that you seem to care enough what I think about any player. Who gives a stuff who rates who. Eventually if we do or don't rate enough players we will all be right. Yep im not a huge fan of Shenton. Im sure he and the club are really worried about that. I will tell you one thing with just about near centainty. Nearly half the players signed in the last 3 weeks wont make it. That also means that hopefully half do make it.
And another thing. I hope for the sake of the club Pelchen didn't pick him because that is not his job. if he is doing that sort of thing then he isn't doing his real job properly.

You should see it as a sign of your opinion being valued Plugger - my tongue in cheek comment was just that, tongue in cheek; but you clearly know your footy inside out, so your opinion on here certainly carries weight!Saint wagga wrote:Cam Shenton is todays futurefest signing! I wish I did. I said Plugger and Loewe weren't good enough marks and Rob Harvey cant run and Lenny cant tackle.

Re: Shenton - todays futurefest signing
Whilst I like Shenton and the way he goes about it, I'm not sure he'll become a long term player for us. With the club only giving him a one year contract suggests to me that the Saints aren't sure either. Needs to step up and have a good season next year to get his contract extended beyond 2015 imo.

Re: Shenton - todays futurefest signing
Happy Birthday Cam
http://www.saints.com.au/news/2014-09-2 ... nk-you-camWhile he turned 24 on Grand Final day and is older than the rest of his #SaintsFutureFest counterparts, the South Australian product remains steadfast in his belief that good times aren’t too far away and that he will be around when the wheel turns.
“I can see all of the young guys working really hard to improve,” he said.
“The club has shown great faith in all of us, and it’s now up to blokes like myself, Jack Newnes and Brodie Murdoch to repay the favour and make it our business to get the club back up the ladder.
“I’m really excited about the future because I know how dedicated this group is and how much we want it.”

But then again look at Panther's guru, Spanger, who is now a premiership player!

Re: Shenton - todays futurefest signing
I have always rated Shents, but was disappointed in his last game,up until then he seemed to improve each outing. This is the type of improvement we need from the newer players.More than happy to have him have a crack at it again next year, now the ball is in court to keep improving

Well I really think your opinion carries huge wait. I do find it strange you comment only negatively about me. What about a plus one. That's as good as you can usually come up when talking Saints.

Now that we have the Futurefest , I would also like to see a Futuref@#$offfest !
The futurefest boys could ceremonially boot the retiring and delisted players out the door !
All in the best possible taste of course .

Re: Shenton - todays futurefest signing
I'm just unsure whether at 24 he'll be a top 22 player in our next premiership. He's an honest trier but with limited upside and development in my opinion. I hope I'm wrong of course!

Re: Shenton - todays futurefest signing
Beside Weller & Billings are there any obvious 'non-sign-ups'?
Sippos and Schnieder the only ones I can think of, but they and others may previously have signed longer term contracts.
