No Fisher?

2 rookie upgrades

GWS will be improvers ............given our injuries /kids.....will be a big task to overcome

OUR INJURY LIST A BIG CONCERN

Wouldnt think Simpkin has a spot after zero games through the pre season.

Hoping they throw Goddard in at CHB, especially against the GWS talls. They're still young and Hugh's a good size.

No, realise that may be unpopular, but Fish and Dempster won't pay forever and we need to start to look at others.

I have said before I believe Simpkin can make it, not his fault he had a sore knee for most of the nab challenge.

With the long term injuries now, I think the hand is forced.

Big BIG concern.

Simpkin cant play and Fisher and Dempster must. We also surely wont play Pierce. We have enough young guys. There is no point in playing a side that would get beaten by 20 goals by GWS. Roberton and Membury will be very lucky to play on form.

He was. He seemed completely uninterested. However the options are nil. Roberton was a disgrace.

We won't elevate two rookies and Simpkin isn't in our best 30 players.
Fisher and Dempster have to play and you say you want to play the kids but you leave out Mc Cartin

Yep. For someone who feels like a new draftee he better improve quick smart. Was possibly our worst performer relative to potential/standard last night.

You've picked Steven in the centre and as ruck rover. He's going to be busy.
I wouldn't expect Simpkin to play given that he's hardly been sighted in the practice matches. Templeton, Saad and Lonie can't play in the same forward line. Too small and no presence. Even have my doubts about Membrey and Bruce together. They might give a good contest but I'd like to see them being more of a scoring threat.
And there's no way Goddard will be sub. The sub has to be a versatile player who will provide more run than the player going off.
Sorry to appear so critical but I don't think we should be too experimental this early in the year.

SainterK makes a good point. We need two x Jack Steven.

Unavailable: Siposs, Markworth, Gilbert, Murdoch, Ross, Saunders, Webster, Ray, Billings, Montagna, Wright

B: Dempster, Delaney, Geary
HB: Savage, Fisher, Roberton
C: Newnes, Armitage, Weller
HF: Membrey, Riewoldt, Lonie
F: Saad, Bruce, Hickey

Foll: Longer, Steven, Dunstan
Int: Acres, Templeton, Shenton, Minchington (sub)

It's going to get ugly. Lots of players there who really don't deserve a game. We're also horribly short on mids

Nope. Best...team...available. We have to get that first win asap. The media need a whipping boy and they are gunning for us already after a 100 pt loss. We need to get a win to get that monkey off our back or the pressure will keep building. Need to know who's available before being able to pick round one. I think McCartin has booked himself a round 1 spot. He worked his backside off against Hawks and helped create half our goals. The kids got it raw - he's a competitive beast. Acres will be definitely in the mix. Templeton will have a spot. Roberton could be in trouble but does have experience. Saad was disappointing when he got a spot ahead of Lonie against Hawks. When Lonie came on he did a couple of really nice touches that could see him get a ahead of Saad. I think Hickey ahead of Longer because of his forward threat but Longer grinds away in the ruck better. Membry disappointing against Hawks but will probably get a guerrnsey seeing as Lee and White can't get on the field. Goddard needs a bit more work before being eased in. Templeton brings energy, effort and buzz - hes in probs on the wing. Geary in if available. Dempster, Fish and Delaney for sure. Savage because of his run. Bruce hits hard and can relief ruck. The rest pick themselves.

Who's going to kick the ball back into play after a behind? Joey was our only one who might have hit a target.

Yes I want kids to get experience this season.

But NO, I don't want to play the maximum number of kids each week as that would lead to slaughter after slaughter....and that is no way to develop young players. Players cannot learn good habits when all they are doing is chasing tail and getting obliterated.

Also just watch the best leave once their initial contracts are up if they have a season of misery.

Backs: Delaney, Shenton, Dempster, Geary, Fisher (5) will be first choice. All can be shaky.

Midfield: Newnes, Armo, Steven, Dunstan, Savage, Billings, Weller, Webster (8) need to play week in week out AFAIAC.

Rucks: Hickey a certainty in rd 1 but I also wouldn't be surprised if Lewis debuts in round 1. (1)

Fwds: Roo, Membrey and Bruce and after that who knows? (3)

So I have (17) certainties. Then that leaves Joey to come back and then 4 spots up for grabs.

(nb: I know Webster is unavailable Round 1.)

I think it proves how bad we are going when just about everyone has Membury in their team. I to think he will be picked but on form he shouldn't be close to getting a game. Shenton is similar. He is a very ordinary player that I wish I could play like but he isn't really much good. Slow and not a great decision maker but he will also play.

Not sure if the bookies are in the same stratusphere on this one with GWS at $1.45, should be $1.045

What a shocking shocking preseason, just what we didn't need

They way we are going with injuries we will be asking the AFL permission for 'top up' players before the season starts. What a disgrace I feel for Sandringham forming an alignment with such a poorly resourced club !

I was thinking last night - we all love Geary and he is an automatic selection and probably in our top 10 players and top 6 highest paid. But if we take off our Saints glasses and we are just neutral footy fans. Would we think of Geary any differently to someone like Greg Broughton? It is no surprise we are bottom.
